I know this is a MAX thread, but how many NEO are short CFM engines? It seems CFM has a minor production ramp issue.

It’s unclear, currently a lot of aircraft are Chinese aircraft awaiting CAAC CFM A320neo certification.

That smart wings photo is the ugliest view of the MAX - most photos make it look elegant, that looks old and stumpy

Depending on the definition of "minor":

CFM says LEAP engine output 4-5 weeks behind schedule but rising as planned

As I mentioned earlier, as long as engines are not fitted on the 737/A320 assembly lines, deliveries are running behind.
What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived.

Any indication of how long this situation will continue?

Quite a number I think. Not sure exactly. But as others have mentioned if the plane come out of final assembly as a glider the engines are behind schedule.

According to your link that is the 2nd MAX 7, but I feel that could be an error since I haven’t heard of the 2nd aircraft being so close behind.

It is indeed the 2nd MAX 7 LN6798 . won't fly before end of March i believe .
1st one is LN6744 and the official roll out in full colors with engines is due tomorrow

Makes a lot more sense, I heard about the rollout tomorrow and there is no way that could have been the first. Thanks for the information.

Can also report that American’s fifth Max had its first flight today.

Tui #2 was scheduled but ended up scrubbing its B1 and is still at Renton.

Icelandair Ran it’s engines for the first time. First flight should be anyday now.

Line 8705 destined to Air Canada was back in the factory and is getting its engines installed.

The Air Canada that is on the flightline in Renton was fueled up today. Should have engine runs in the next couple of days.

The sixth AA Max is on the flightline without engines.

Aerolinas Argentina’s next Max is in the back with engines.

In the back of the factory Max 7 #2 is awaiting engines. Air China awaiting engines, Hainan awaiting engines, Shanghai awaiting engines. Westjet that just rolled out appeared to have engines. I think that covers most.

That is going to be one serious tailstriker! Are they raising the landing gear to minimize the risk of this?

They are raising the landing gear unlike on the MAX 9. The MAX 10 will have a somewhat foldable gear when stowed from what I understand so it extends to be slightly longer than the gear on the other MAX aircraft, thus helping to prevent its tail strike tendencies.

EDIT: further details. It will fold up slightly to compact to fit in the same bay but still be longer. Here is a thread from TechOps viewtopic.php?t=1366167
