Question about YYZ

Tue Jan 02, 2018 6:39 am

I had a quick question about YYZ. Unlike the US where once you clear security, you can go to any part of the airport once airside, most major airports in Canada have three distinct zones, domestic, transborder, and Int'l. Now, obviously, US preclearance is separated from the rest of the airport, but are domestic and Int'l separated at YYZ as well? Ie. If your flight is YYZ-YVR, can you access the Int'l pier at YYZ as one could do in the US with a domestic BP, or are domestic and Int'l areas restricted by your BP?

No you cannot access the international E gates from the domestic C gates without the appropriate boarding pass. There are two checkpoints and boarding passes are checked at each checkpoint. Without an E boarding pass you would not be permitted to proceed pass the first checkpoint. FYI Vancouver is exactly the same and I hope this helps.

You can access the Intl section in T3. In fact Intl flights now regularly depart from the old domestic gates, IE The WS LGW flight regularly departs from the satellite terminal.

used to be separate, but i think they had a shortage of gates for international flights so they merged them together.

Sunday evening was horrible, as now there is one security check point for both domestic and non USA international flights, the wait time was 55 minutes to get through security (although only have 3 lanes open didnt help)
