A bit off topic: Airbus delivered amazing 89 aircrafts in November, but they will need to increase that by almost 50% in December to reach 800 for the year. Sound like a stretch IMO.

Most likely. Delivery dates match when BA said they would be getting the planes.

Many of the 89 were mostly built in previous months and waiting for engines. They still need 139 in December to hit the 800 goal. Not going to happen.

Those 3 as mentioned above are the forming up of BAs order for 3 leased B77W at the Farnborough Air Show in July this year.

But we now know Novus Aviation Capitol firmed 3 77Ws last month (firming of their LOI or whatever for up to 4 from the Farnborough air show). BOC just announced an order for 3 which will be in December count. One of those is BA, but the other is not going to place speculative 77W orders this late into the game- they must already have a customer and an order for 3 suggests a top up from someone.

Commitments doesn't sound like a firm order.

That's why they call it a commitment and mention in the press release that it "will be reflected on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website once finalized".

Not sure how to put it without political bias, the news article makes the order sounds as if Saudi Arabia is saying sorry to USA. Airbus was heavily involved in Flyadeal's starting, this is an immense loss for them tbh. This will make fourth airline (if I can recall correctly) to move from Airbus fleet to Boeing, not that it is a big deal though. I guess Airbus production line is all sold out until later date.

After JT610 crash, Boeing is still able to score big order for B737MAX. Firstly, Jeju Air for 40 and Caribbean Airlines for 10, now this. Congrats to them!

G'day

Commencing with the firm orders of JetBlue and Moxy for 60 each of the A220-300 model it appears we have firmly arrived in the fifth quarter. I just wonder if we will also see further orders for "original" Airbus aircraft

Cheers

It will be interesting to see how many orders Airbus will book in Q5 that were not announced earlier in 2018. Especially for the A220 for which the buzz did die down a bit after the original Moxy and JetBLue announcements in July.

Anyway, last year Boeing announced their total on January 10, Airbus on January 15. This will most likely be on similar days this year.

The totals so far (up to November net orders + new firm announcements)
Boeing: 726 (690 + 36)
Airbus: 600 (380 + 220)

126 difference between both of them. Would be interesting to see final Dec figures. It is another tight race. Also would be interesting is how are the Paris Air Show number adding up or firmed up as press and some members here have mentioned mostly are "recycled" or swapping of models news, especially for B737max-10.

Another big one to be firmed up is AirAsia Group order for additional 34 A330neo, while Airbus said it was firm order, the local press in Malaysia stated otherwise. (I don't see how they can operate 100 A330neo in financially sustainbale manner in long term, in future). Tony is gunning for A321neoLR to complement A321neo and A330neo operation. He recently tweeted 2019 is another big year for the Group especially AirAsia X and will concentrate on stabilising AirAsia Philippines and Indonesia AirAsia.

I think WN tasted the waters of filling up a bigger 737 with passengers and liked them, so they may be done with the 73G. Bet they can do that with the -9 and even the -10. We had always thought they were capable, but now WN know that for themselves. They have a lot of 73G's so they may opt for the bigger models, and Boeing I'm sure won't mind. Good for WN.

I think this the was the last of the large unidentified MoUs/LoIs from the Farnborough Airshow for Airbus. There are a couple LoIs left = Starlux, AirAsiaX. If they announce any other large orders, let's say 50+ frames, they will be completely new or from China.

Reuters also reported some more orders from lessors:

https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-airbu ... KKCN1P1188

BOC: 2x A350-900s.
SMBC: 65x A320neo family (a big new order)
CALC: 25x 737MAX, their 2nd order for December = 50 in total last month.

The wording of that statement is interesting. Its unclear whether the unidentified actually includes 777X orders or just those would be lumped with those numbers.

Boeing Final 2018 Numbers

Boeing (Final 2018):
1090 Gross Orders
893 Net Orders (675 x B737, 18 x B747, 40 x B767, 51 x B777, 109 x B787)

Airbus end of November 2018 numbers for comparison. Granted this will increase a reasonable amount but, especially considering widebodies (218 net orders), Boeing have the crown this year.

Airbus (November 2018):
439 Gross Orders
380 Net Orders (301 x A320, 14 x A380, 36 x A350, 29 x A330)

There were 15 cancellations, including 1 787-9 and 1 777F, both orders were transferred to Boeing Capital Corporation. The other cancellations were for the 737.

The 737 MAX passed the 5,000 sales, it's order total is now 5,005.

It's also good to note that the net total for the year includes the ASC 606 accounting Adjustments that were posted on the orders & deliveries page earlier this year. This added 78 extra cancellations to the total of 197 cancellations for 2018. But these are still listed in the backlog per model, it's going to be interesting to see how Boeing will deal with this in the 1st 2019 update.

Boeing Final 2018 Numbers

Boeing (Final 2018):
1090 Gross Orders
893 Net Orders (675 x B737, 18 x B747, 40 x B767, 51 x B777, 109 x B787)

Please go back and correct your figures. We all know here that the 747 and 767 are dead, so plainly you have made an error. :D

What is the order for the A380? I can find that reference on Wikipedia, but looking in detail the only recent order I find is the 20 frame order from EK which is not yet finalized. (That would net out 14 after the Virgin Atlantic cancellation.)

Thanks!

David

The numbers are correct.

Airbus booked the EK order 20 A380 as a firm order in February 2018.

Let the speculation begin!

1 x 748F: Silk Way
3 x 748F: Volga-Dnepr or subsidiary
9 x 777F: Lufthansa Cargo (remaining MD-11 replacement; hours on their MD-11 fleet are getting crazy high) or FedEx
4 x 777-300ER: BA? TK? AF/KL?

The 777s are not BA. BA ordered 3 earlier this year from lessor. They are either the BOC Aviation order for 3 in December or the 3 from Novus ordered in November.
