VH-VZK (ex ZK-ZQF) will enter mainline service tomorrow (Wednesday) morning as QF505. ZK-ZQG will be withdrawn from Jetconnect after operating QF120 AKL-BNE, also tomorrow morning (to become VH-VYZ after maintenance in BNE).

I'd expected VZN and VZQ for ZQG and ZQH,

Or did QF not have the entire VZ block
(VZN is seemingly a hot air balloon. VZQ seemingly available)

QF had VZN back when these aircraft were delivered, but as you said it has since been allocated to a hot air balloon. ZQH will return as VZQ.

All that's been reported is a bigger TV screen, and presumably revamped seat materials and bedding.

I'd be hopeful they find some way to add some sort of doors for additional privacy, given this seems standard in F.

I just noticed my QF51 flight next week got downgauged from a 333 to a 332. From the seat map it appears to be in the new J27Y224 config. Is there any difference in the hard product in Y compared to the refurbished 333 fleet?

Yes, the -200s have the older style seats with smaller screens (9" vs 11" on the -300s). It's a downgrade but not a huge one, the seats are still pretty decent.

Yes, the -200s have the older style seats with smaller screens (9" vs 11" on the -300s). It's a downgrade but not a huge one, the seats are still pretty decent.

Believe you're confusing with the C36Y199 version? As the new A332 (those with AVOD) have the exact seat as the -300 gets and the exact same system (11" eXLite according to QFSource). The conversion from C28Y243 to C27Y224 doesn't involve any hardware changes, just removing a couple seats really.

Qf002 is correct.
The 332s with IFE have 9" screens (Panasonic ex2), whereas the 333s were refurbed to the larger 11" (Panasonic exLite).

The other config (of which it is hopefully only EBG left and not for much longer) had the 6" square Rockwell Collins screens.

Also appears EBP has been at BNE since 23/10, presumably beginning conversion to 27/224 (if so this would make it the 5th in the Intl config)

EBL which has been there since 2/10 must be due back to service soon (as 28/243)

-EBA/B/C/D/E/F/J/K AND L (currently being converted) have Y/C ipad IFE

So once the reconfigs are complete we should be left with only two Configs for the 332:
10 domestic with iPads and 28/243; and
8 international with seatback IFE and 27/224

4 of the iPad aircraft are 2002-2003 deliveries, the remaining 8 are 2007-2008.
The international aircraft are newer again at 2010-2012.

Per upthread, these are expected to be registered as VH-VYZ and VH-VZQ.

I found on the internet published for sale all QF 747-400 plus -ER in service with availability dates. Year first , month and day.

For this screenshot you can conclude non-ER retirement line in the next year
1st : OJS 15-Feb-2019
2nd : OEB 15-Apr-2019
3rd : OJU 15-Aug-2019

Last aircraft in retirement may be Ceduna (OEI) , she had D-Check recently or Wunala (OEJ). Date : 01-Dec-2020

They probably won't start replacing 738s until ~2025. No reason why these aircraft shouldn't keep flying to 25+ years, especially if they keep the cabins looking fresh.

The 75 737s are 2002-2016 deliveries. 21 in the first two years (redirected from AA after 9/11 and Ansett collapse)

Possibly the early ones may be upsized to a 797 rather than replaced with a narrow body.

Also wouldnt be surprised to see QF add some 321neoLR with similar seat count but lieflat J got narrow Asian routes.

JQ is currently expected to get 18 321neoLR from mid-2020 to end-2022.

IMHO B738 replacement to start 2022 at the earliest, 2027 at the latest, so still time to place orders.

The transfer of all eight Jetconnect B738s 'back' to mainline is now complete. ZK-ZQH / VH-VZQ has entered mainline service this morning as QF798 BNE-CNS.

Going back to my A333 records for refurb plus C-check, It varied from 2mth1day QPE to 2mth13days QPA.

Possibly slightly more work on EBL as they also need to strip the Rockwell Collins units from economy.

Just noticed -EBQ positioning flight QF6004 SYD-BNE. Pure speculation on my part, maybe going in for its reconfig to 27J/224. I have read that the 'original 6' reconfigs were to be completed before end 2018. -EBQ will be number 6

Well theoretically it could have the WiFi hump and all new Y seats with seatback IFE.

But I think all indications is Qantas are creating two 332 fleets.

10 (EBA thru EBL) 28J /243Y with iPads in Y and NBN Inflight Internet - will be mostly used for domestic with some shorter Asian trips.

8 (EBM thru EBV) 27J /228Y with Seatback IFE in Y - mostly International and only 332s for PEK.

The latter 8 will be waiting until the faster ViaSat-3 satellites to launch (from 2020-2022) for Inflight Internet but I'd expect Qantas will upgrade the 380 and 787 first.
