Did a 380 Divert to BHX 5th Jan 2018?

Fri Jan 05, 2018 9:25 pm

Hi all,

I was out on a visit in Solihull, West Midlands today around 14:00 there was an EK 380 on approach into BHX.

I looked on Flight Radar thinking it was the EK39/40 rotation but that had left much earlier and at this time was already heading toward the coast of the UK however there was no other EK380 on Flight Radar in that location but this was definitely a 'gear down' EK 380 on its way into BHX around that time.

Can anyone advise? Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, I am not too sure if its operations or not you see...

No A380 landed around 1400, Emirates’ 2 landings of A388 was 1127 and 1855. (+B77W 1731).

However there was a DEPARTURE at 1357 (EK40) so mabye they swapped runways and you saw departure aircraft?

Not sure otherwise.

Thanks for the info, It really did look in a landing configuration with the wheels down, it didn't seem like it was climbing however if you reckon the departure was at that time (A6-EUN operated EK40) when I checked Flight Radar for EK40, that already seemed to be heading toward Norwich / Great Yarmouth...

...Thats not to say FR was correct of course. Thank you again.

FR24's playback shows A6-EUN as EK40 taking off to the north-west at 1357.

Thank you. Maybe it didn't retract landing gear straight away then.

I was at work yesterday and there was no diversion that I know of :/ there was however, a Lufty 320 that was tech and off-stand. Apparently, the oxygen mask panels had opened up.

I was at Coventry Rugby Club today which sits under the 380 flight path to DXB and saw that 380 fly over whilst waiting for the game to kick off - the gear was still down then - guessing the gear was just late being put up...
