They are done bleeding out at LGB for no good reason.
(AS should take this lesson regarding DAL)

From what I understand they will be changing things around there.

Is this from the Monty Python Department of Redundancy Department?

Wow! Color me surprised! These times go against the grain of most HA flights that RON on the west coast. Great schedule in my opinion for locals on both sides!

Only early AM B6 inbounds to LGB prior to a HA 0930 dep are flights from OAK, SFO and SJC, all of which have their own HA service.

Rich International proposed LGB-Hawaii, probably as a charter in conjunction with someone like SunTrips. It never started though. An L-1011 at the old trailer terminal would have been something to see.

Why is it 6:30 eastbound and 5:10 westbound?

It looks like there’s an early morning AUS-LGB flight that can comfortably make an 0930 departure as well. But I agree it’s not going to work well for east coast markets; even if the 0735 flight from JFK was moved to 0600, it’s arrival in LGB would allow for a just over 30 minute connection. But maybe the thinking is that east coast markets would connect through JFK or LAX, while LGB can take western and mid-west markets.
The red-eye return leaves plenty of options for onward connections, but may not be as desirable for the local market.

East Coast travelers are probably going to fly JFK-HNL nonstop on HA metal, with the pre-existing B6 codeshare.
Westbound travelers from B6 markets in the West and Midwest, might find it more convenient to connect through LAS to HA 17, the westbound LAS-HNL redeye, than trying to make an early connection in LGB. But my assumption about the LGB codeshare is that it is mostly for tapping the B6 FF base, and that connections are an afterthought. If I am wrong, I'm sure the westbound flight will be retimed soon.
ericm2031 wrote:I don't follow LGB's slot allocation process that closely, but it will be interesting to hear the full details. I didn't think B6 could pick and choose who would get their slots go if they weren't to use them. I thought they would have to be returned to the airport and airlines then submitting applications for them...unless this already happened.

Much better times that rumored.
But his doesn't really feed anything for a
JetBlue codeshare with a 2100 arrival.
I wouldn't be surprised if another LGB airline objected via a Lawsuit to the leasing of slots especially since it's being dubbed a codeshare.
I'm sure the lawyers of the other airlines are reviewing the LGB slot program.
