At least with the RON A/C it should depart OT every day, minimizing connection delays

If it arrives on time, that's an hour to unload a 767 at remote parking, get everyone onto shuttle buses, into the terminal, only to turn around for a number of flights to get back on ANOTHER shuttle bus and be sent back out to a remote stand to get on a plane.
That's less than an hour to connect to Frankfurt, Munich, an hour to catch a flight to London Heathrow, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, and an hour plus a few minutes to spare to Copenhagen, London Gatwick, and so on and so forth.

FI has announced its next newest destination - SFO. FI will operate its 767s four times per week. Start from 01JUN through October.
The flight schedule is as follows:
FI863 KEF1700 SFO1855
FI862 SFO1515 KEF0640

I wish the airport would wait until the new South Field remote spots open, along with the hotel, in a few years.RJNUT wrote:stlgph wrote:IN Keflavik at 5p, arrival into SFO at 7p.

Sometimes the tow back to the A terminal takes over an hour, and the last gating priority on ATC delay days are tows vs live inbounds, so don't count on that.

This question is asked on almost every thread about FI! Reason is: otherwise they miss the European connecting bank, rendering the route almost useless. How it's good asset utilisation: a) they do maintenance checks on the sitting aircraft that'd otherwise be done in KEF and b) all their 757s and 767s are completely owned by FI and have low depreciation value so they can afford to park them in order to sustain the route.
Other routes using the same model include ANC, DEN, DFW, MCI, MCO, PDX, SEA and YVR.

This was the problem with FI's prior SFO service, the late evening departure from SFO mis-connected most of the network & required a forced overnight going to most European destinations. I feel if FI had been timed well like this time, it would have been a better venture, just my opinion. The area sales rep came by our office & we were wholesaling for them & we participated in a night on the Castro party with ticket giveaways.

Is Canada generally not considered part of North America? Why does it need to be noted that it is included?

Haha of course it is! It's just that he asked for the US destinations, and I decided to include Canada as well.

If you’re expecting a long tow back to the gate, leave earlier!

WW: SFO, LAX, MIA, JFK, EWR, BWI, BOS, ORD, PIT, CLE, CVG, DTW, DFW, YUL, YYZ, STL,

All you have to do is google it. BTW. Icelandair + WOW now serve 29 different cities in North America. You're missing one. It's easy logic to figure out as you just add the destinations that WOW serves but not Icelandair (6 in total) to Icelandair's number. By comparison, BA serves 28 destinations US and Canadian from Heathrow. Oakland and FLL are served from Gatwick.
By my count, Heathrow has 32 destinations.

BA has also long served MCO and TPA from LGW. Better to count all LON-North America at once, I'd say. BA serves 32 US/CAN cities from LON.
FRA-US/CAN has 27 year round destinations, and an added 13 seasonal, for 40 total. * denotes seasonal service.
