LAX
SNA
PHX
PDX
SAN
SFO
SJC

Freq and schedules out later in the year.

All those destinations make sense from PAE. But I'm a little bit surprised at SJC and SNA. But all of those could easily be mainline, even though I hear some will be E-175's.

Really smart schedule and aircraft utilization...know lots of friends and family already excited, especially about LAS and SNA! Weakest might be SJC but if timed right with Hawaii connections it should be a winner as well.

Now here’s the new question: will PDX be 5x a day and all the others once a day or will the extra frequency’s be split between the destinations?
I’m guessing:
PDX 3x/day
LAX 3x
SFO 2x
LAS 1x
PHX 1x
SNA 1x
SJC 1x
SAN 1x

The frequencies will be very dependent on the a/c used. With EMJs, 737s and AirBi, I'm not even guessing any more.

If UA sticks with 6 daily departures and AS remains at 13, that's real close to 10 departures per gate split among 2 cx which means real tight coordinated scheduling between the two cx. (It's hard enough for a single carrier, such as WN, to work 10 flights thru 1 gate but for 2 independent cx to manage it?...) I really wonder if the 2 cx will be able to stay with these numbers. Or perhaps the design of the airport terminal will be changed?

With the start of service months away, I wouldn't be too surprised if there are 'adjustments'. In any case, It's going to be tough to wait months to see the flights begin!

bb

Will the new terminal at PAE have jetways? AS could have one gate (doorway) that has both A and B to it...have to two or three aircraft parking places. That would remedy this issue...possibly.

I wonder if AAG will have to drop something at SNA in order to start this new PAE-route? (Or does AAG or the airport have unused slots available?)

I would expect SNA-PAE would see a single daily EMJ r/t. But that slot has to come from somewhere.

Yes, it seems like AAG is prolly going after mostly business traffic but also, with LAS and even SNA, some leisure travelers as well. (And there are certainly some warm-weather and beach destinations to appeal to winter flyers.) It does seem like a pretty nicely balanced route map selected for Everett and I'm sure AAG will easily be able to adjust frequencies and capacity amongst these destinations as necessary.

SNA is losing the RNO flight later which caused me to wonder where they were going to get the Q from for the SNA-STS flight. Maybe PAE-SNA-STS-PDX might work on an EMJ.

Haven't seen a schedule but impressed by the number of flights. Assuming as many as possible will be morning departures in order to connect to Mexico and Hawaii out of SFO, SJC, LAX, SNA and SAN with an evening return. Guessing 3x to PDX, 2x to LAX and SFO?

Wow, glad to see SNA made the cut. I’m surprised PHX is on the list.

Remember that Allegiant to Bellingham from IWA is a very popular route. I have a lot of friends who hate making the drive out to Mesa for this flight however it is so cheap they consider it to be the best way to get to Seattle (them, not me). Allegiant has been rumored to be wanting to add IWA-PAE for a while.

Though I am Platinum on DL, I LOVE PAE and would be very tempted to take this route. Fly up, stay at the Hilton Garden Inn, tour the factory for the 8th time, enjoy Mukilteo for the afternoon and fly home depending on frequency. The perfect long weekend.

All my guesses were right except Hawaii.

SAN should have been on my list. I just forgot it. SJC makes sense with recent strategies. SNA is to keep WN out if possible and hold a slot. I guess I agree.

That just leaves PHX. I said anything else would be to block competitors. Arguably SNA and PHX are to block WN. I'm not sure I see why PHX and not DEN. IMHO, DEN is a more dangerous route to defend against since they will only be focusing on West routes. Perhaps they are just conceding competition to the Eaat is not something they can compete with.

I'm surprised Southwest hasn't tried to take over all of the gates. There's a Love and Paine joke in there somewhere. ;-)

(bad joke)

I'm glad this is happening though. Seattle needs a northern metro option however limited it might be.

Not too shabby! Might have to fly out of PAE on a trip down south at some point. It's just a close to me as SEA is and would be a new airport for the ol' log. Surprised by the lack of GEG, but good to see a few surprises in the mix. Congrats to all involved.

I believe UA is also adding 6 flights to DEN & SFO in the fall. With AS’s 13 flights that seems like a lot of flights for 2 gates.

I wonder if installations of triple pane windows at some households in Mukilteo will occur. I know that happened at SEA a while back ( I believe related to the third runway).

Living nearby I am excited to potentially fly out of Paine Field. I hope the actual scheduled flights are convenient for business travel.

I am a little surprised GEG wasn't on the list.

Is King County Metro or Community Transit going to set up any express bus from PAE to Seattle? I love that there's now a second option to get to the Seattle-area, but the ground transportation options are really sparse up there.

I'll readily admit I don't know much about PAE, but would boarding via hardstands be a viable option? That's what immediately came to my mind to alleviate so many departures from so few gates.

I'm only asking because I don't know the details of the AA/AS codeshare changes that have come over the last few years. If it's possible for the two to codeshare on this route, would it be only for this leg, or would it also work for a connecting itinerary (i.e. PHX - PAE - PDX)?

Sure...and lose their shirt. E175 is perfect and offers the same inflight experience with 75 fewer seats to fill than a Boeing or Airbus.

Remind me again please. Will PAE have free parking? Will it have paid parking?

There probably isn't much in the way of public transportation there. I live on the other side of the field from the terminal and not aware of much.

For shorter trips (e.g. four days to SJC), those of us who work at a large employer nearby can probably leave our cars across the street at a company building and walk over.

The utility of PAE certainly will be limited if they don't expand public transit. Also is there a plan for a rental car facility?

That's true. AS can offer a comfortable plane with 2x2 seating in coach w/ a first class, quicker turns, more frequency, and can utilize the 2 gates better than having mainline equipment. I think it's a great start actually. It's just weird to me to have all E75s on Boeing turf.

Now that we've established that all PAE flights will be op'd with EMJs, it seems that all these 13 daily departures will require several EMJs. I hope they have enough new ones coming online, plus enough slack in the fleet to start these routes without having to pull any a/c from existing routes. Of course the flights don't begin until at least this fall so that's quite a bit of time to 'save up' a/c. (And I hope there will be ample cockpit crew available to operate all the new flights.!)

Undoubtedly, after a start-up period, flights with high traffic could be upgraded to mainline aircraft.

The internal announcement said that the flights would be operated by QX E-175's as long as they are able to continue hiring and retaining pilots to sustain the operation. It went on to say that they are currently on target to meet their hiring goals for 2018, so that's good.... Also, I believe QX is supposed to take delivery of a pretty healthy number of new E175's this year.
