KLM retro 737 repainted

Tue Jan 16, 2018 9:00 am

PH-BXA has been repainted into standard livery after wearing the 90th anniversary scheme for 9 years. Hopefully there will be another special for their 100th next year.

Flew her from Aberdeen once....good stuff!
Here`s hoping for another one.....or would they wait for a Max?
That might be a while.....

KLM will be the first airline to reach 1919-2019 = 100th Anniversary

A centenial livery might be in the making in time for 2019.

Would be fantastic if they would paint not just one aircraft for a 100th anniversary. Maybe up to six retros to reflect most of the liveries over the years.

Something like this maybe:

What other retros are still around ? Is the Aer Lingus A320 and Lufthansa A321 still retro painted ?

I saw the Aer Lingus retrojet at AMS last week. Haven't seen the Lufthansa A321 for a while, but I believe it is still around.

To bad, I quite liked it.

So KLM, this livery on one of your 747-400's next year for the 100th anniversary? :scratchchin:

I would like to see this livery as farewell/thank you livery for the 747 fleet, just like KL had a special livery for the Fokker 70.

I'd be shocked if KL would let its 100th anniversary pass without something special on the livery of their entire fleet...Some nice stickers for sure, and additionally a special paint scheme on some of their flagship aircraft.

Something in me hopes that one of the Boeing long-haul planes---be it a 77W or a 789---gets a retro livery.

KLM should come with a new livery. The current "dolphin" livery is a huge step backward of the original which was introduced in 2003.
A bit more class like Etihad and Alitalia and definitely not eurowhite Iberia or "the mask" Air Canada.

Meanwhile, Air Canada is still rocking their 60th anniversary scheme from 1997 and refuse to acknowledge anything that has occurred in this country since then.

The 1997 TCA A319 has been repainted several times. It is a favourite among employees ... let's face it, no one other than employees and the few av-geeks on this site give a rat's ass about these retro paint schemes. I really do think it is more than just chance that this particular FIN has not migrated to rouge ... and so far, it's staying at mainline.

I thought the 65th anniversary paint scheme was ingenious, the 70th and 75th were rather unmemorable. While the 80th anniversary was the theme of a lot of (internal) company events ... it did not make it onto an aircraft tail.
Just because I stopped arguing, doesn't mean I think you are right. It just means I gave up!

As of last December LH still had one A321 in retrojet colours.

Also not Europe but QF has two 737s in Retroroo colours

9M-MXA of Malaysian Airlines & PK-GFN of Garuda Indonesia in Asia. Not to mention the various AA heritage liveries, such as N9155NN in the TWA livery, N838AW in the America West livery and N578UW for US Airways.

Exacly. It would have to have been repainted a few times if it’s still a thing 20 years later. It was modified in I believe in 2007 with a newer solid red TCA logo and newer Air Canada font. It must be liked by the right people at the company if it has lasted this long. I do think it’s a but funny as you mention that every 5 years they have cut back so to speak on their celebratory livery. 60th was so good it still is with us, 65th was great and I luckily got to fly on it, 70th was nice enough, 75th was just a sticker, and 80th sadly doesn’t exist except the logos and such seen the Navi and Horizons magazines with all that 737 max stuff and what not. I don’t see this one going to rouge unless it is somehow better than others in the fleet and I would bet that it’ll be sent to the desert with that livery when one of those 737s replaces it not too too long from now. It will be a sad day when that happens just as it is with this KLM retrojet.

We will see what KLM does next year, hopefully it is something worthy of the occasion.

Huh, I just flew in this plane in July, and remarked to myself what a sharp-looking bird she was. Of course, I have long since come to terms with my liking something usually being the kiss of death, so no shock about the repaint. Pity though. Looking forward to the centennial look. KLM has never gone too far wrong with their liveries.

I logged this just a few weeks ago on AMS-BHX, along with the SAS retro a few years ago to Dublin. I'd love to see more retro jets and props in the world!
