By chance I just came across this crazy video of a Aero Sur 747-300 performing a gear-up go-around. Seems quite dangerous, especially the left-turn at the end of the maneuver which brought the wingtip very close to the ground. Any ideas what this action was all about?
Not a go-around, rather a display flight doing a low-level pass down the runway. As for the dangerous bit, I'm not in a position to judge that as I never flew the 747. Since nothing crashed and nobody died, I trust the captain knew his ship and what it's capable of.
It's the famous incident in which the captain forgot to lower the gear, but was thankfully alerted at the very last minute by a nerdy a.Nutter that the wheels were not hanging down....
