New Icelandair livery coming

Not to shabby, if you ask me.Looks somewhat plain (pun unintended). I wonder if they will put this one their 757s and 767s or if its just for the MAX/a one plane livery.

I really hope the “not done yet” comments are correct. It really looks like they leased that jet from Delta in 2005...

From the perspective of someone who liked the previous livery, I don't think it looked well on the shape of the 737 max when shown in the renderings.

Lets see: Letters are now "San Serifed", No titles on tail, No logo on winglets, Logo changed to single colour with no gradient, Blue belly colour has been drastically reduced, and Yellow stripe removed. It's OK, but bland, and has lost most of its class. Simplifying for the sake of simplifying isn't always a good thing. I give it a C - .

FI just bought a former Arkia 757-300, so we should see the new livery on a 757 very soon.

I would not expect that, this revised livery is most likely done to make the MAX more proportional, like the ydid when the 767 entered the fleet, (drew the belly line lower than on the 757), I think the new -300 vill look exactly like the other 75s

Been looking at flights to Paris for the airshow in June 2019. I think they are only out about a year on Icelandairs site. But they are listing the 737-8 Max on the MSP-->KEF route. I was saddened to not see the 757 on this route.

The 757 will be on there as well. It’s at 11 flights per week. On no day will there only be a B737-8

I’ve done a quick search on the new Icelandair livery as per the dictionary.

Boring - not interesting.
Bland - lacking strong features or characteristics and therefore uninteresting.

The grey belly just looks so dated and characterless. It would even look better if the fuselage were just all white. At least then it would be contemporary.

Very subtle change... not much to say about it really. I think it looks a little clearer and more modern. Sure, the old livery wasn't awful but I don't really find anything offensive about this refresh. The only thing I'm curious about is the tail logo- it doesn't seem to have any shading like on the logo from wikipedia posted above. If it gets the shading it'll look good, but if it doesn't I'll be disappointed.

This revised livery wouldn’t be as awful if the grey belly were dark blue and with the old yellow line. I also can’t get used to seeing the tail with out ICELANDAIR written on it

Worth nothing that the level of detail on the winglet logo doesn't match that of the tail. The tail is a flat, 2 dimensional, 1-color bore. The winglets have shading, dimension, and color similar to the current logo. There must be more to come when this jet gets to KEF... I don't know if it'll be enough to save the tragedy that's already apparent, but it gives me hope.

Compared to their current livery, this is awful.
Compared to Lufthansa's new livery, this is beautiful.

I hope they indeed finish the livery at KEF.
Icelandair's livery is very classy and elegant. This one looks cheap. Reminds me of an interim leased aircraft.

Good lord, reading some of these comments you'd think they did an AA-type makeover. Most people will never notice the very subtle change. It looks fine to me.

Getting "Icelandair" of the tail is fine by me. Flattening out the logo with one color looks cheap and ULCC to me. Abstracting a logo like Delta did with the widget is obviously now a trend. The old livery was very classy. Is FI in a battle with WW for the cheapest tacky branding race?

If you look at the "F" on the winglets the shading is there. The tail will probably come next.
Do you think it will be some sort of mask applied?

I wonder if the 737 has a belly logo?? Grey belly to make a belly logo stand out more perhaps? Anyone?

By the way....about FI's 737max. I'm booked to fly it in late June and have a near engine window seat (9A), but I see loads of space what looks like 3 windows missing there.
Does anyone have a detailed seatmap by any chance of this new bird?

Read up the thread. I posted a couple of times that the normal livery will be applied in KEF according to local sources, it just got lost in the noise.

Unfortunately I think you’re incorrect. The belly looks grey to me. Also, on Icelandairs official Facebook page, a few people have complained about the new livery. They replied saying “the paint will be finalised in Iceland so the tail and logo are not final in the picture. There have been some changes to the livery with the name excluded from the tail and the grey belly. This is done to make the livery lighter and more modern but also to answer some maintenance needs”.

That would greatly surprise me as many sources high up at FI have said that the blue color will be applied to the belly in KEF. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
