Israel & Canada sign new air transport agreement

Thu Jan 25, 2018 9:04 pm

Canada, Israel signed today an agreement allowing for more air travel between the two countries

https://aircanada.mediaroom.com/2018-01 ... -Agreement

AC already has daily from YYZ and seasonal 3 x weekly from YUL but say they want to "expand" further. What more is needed, do you think? A seasonal second daily YYZ-TLV?

Beside YYZ-TLV being served 10 weekly and YUL-TLV being seasonal, I see nothing else but YUL being expanded in the future.

Who knows, maybe YVR-TLV could happen possibly. But besides YUL and YYZ, no other destination in Canada seems in demand from TLV.

Air Transat also serves YUL-TLV on a seasonal basis.

I'd expect this to be the first route for the Westjet 787's which are only a year away.

The expanded agreement allows designated airlines to operate up to 19 passenger flights per week (up from 12).

This enables AC to go daily on YUL-TLV, and expand YYZ-TLV to 9 or 10x weeky.

AC will jump to secure a good chunk of the 19x weekly frequencies as soon as possible. They are already adding 1x weekly frequency to YUL-TLV, but so is TS. Not much room left for WS, especially if AC decides to make YUL-TLV daily.

The old agreement wasn't preventing them from launching YUL, as they use less than half of the 12x weekly frequencies they were entitled on YYZ-TLV.
us Air Traffic Controllers have a good record, we haven't left one up there yet !!
