KLM to fly daily to EZE & SCL

Fri Jan 26, 2018 4:57 pm

Effective Nov. 1st, KL will add a seventh weekly frequency on the AMS-EZE-SCL route. Route is flown with the 408-seat 777-300ER.

KL701 AMS 20:55 EZE 06:45-08:55 SCL 11:05+1 77W D
KL702 SCL 12:45 EZE 14:35-16:40 AMS 10:00+1 77W D

Today's random and useless trivia: KL is especially popular with the ever growing Sino-Argentinian community with easy connections in Amsterdam to many cities in China - and no need for transit visas. It also has great prices on the EZE-SCL-EZE sectors, with full 5th freedom rights. A welcome change from AR's 738s and LA A321s on this busy route.
Keep calm and wash your hands.

Would love to see a trip report on KLM's EZE-SCL sector, like we often see on the Indonesia-Kuala Lumpur 5th freedom flights.

Any plans for them to AMS-SCL non-stop in the future?

Great news. I’ve flown them twice, one in the SCL-EZE sector and return in Business and one in the SCL-EZE-AMS and then AMS-DXB and return, in coach. Both were excellent flights and Schipol is such a great airport for connections. The only weird thing I found was that in my flight in Business they gave different meals depending wether your destination was EZE or AMS. Never figured out why...

That would not be fifth freedom. That would be cabotage. I hope you realize Argentina and Chile are independent countries.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).

408 seats on a 77W? Good lord almighty that is an awfully dense configuration. Just for comparison, AA's 77Ws have 310 seats and are now going down to 304 seats as they get retrofitted with premium economy.

It's just very Y-heavy. I wouldn't say they are dense, both offer 30-32 inches.
Diffrence is that AA has Premium Eco, First Class and more Bizz class seats. Those take up more space.

Comparing:
F C Y+(premium) Y+ (legroom) Y
AA 8 52 28 28 188
KLM 0 34 0 40 334
F70-F100-RJ85-RJ70-E190-319-320-321-733-734-735-737-738-752-753-763-764-772-744-380

The information I have from Amadeus is 34 seats in Business and 374 in Economy, so it really is 408 in total. The configuration is a punishing 3-4-3 in Economy, which helps to explain how KLM packs so many seats into the aircraft.

If you think flying large aircraft US domestic is viable, give it a try and start your own airline.

Don't know what happened on your flight but there is no such thing as a different meal for passengers with destination AMS or EZE.....

I was given a sandwich while other passengers received a full lunch. Nobody asked me anything. Other passengers who were flying to EZE received a sandwich as well.

I know the catering upload for EZE-SCL-EZE is done in EZE, only thing I can think of is that there were a lot of upgrades in SCL and there was not enough catering (meals) on board. Giving a sandwich in Business is definitely NOT the normal service. Very strange they didn't offer an apology to you for that.

Sometimes when traveling as a sublo you may be given a business class seat but served Y catering.
