Not surprising from Air Madrid II - oops, I meant, Plus Ultra.

Hopefully they will not repeat past performances and refrain from swindling those poor Venezuelans trying to get out of that mess out of their $.
Keep calm and wash your hands.

Correct. And they also tried SCL and failed, That said, one needs to look under the carpet too. And under PU's carpet one finds a lot of Air Madrid DNA. And we all know how that one went.

They r doing a great job in LIM...i dont see why that has to change.

Many airlines made mistakes N now are going un the right way.

Having said that starting Venezuela its crazy. They could try another route like in Colombia, Argentina,China i mean everywhere but Venezuela

Actually there are increasing frequencies LIM from 2 to 3 times a week.
In addition , Iberia serves LIM 11 x week, LanPeru 7 x week and Air Europa 7x week

"PLUS ULTRA"

The motto was suggested to Charles V in 1516 by his physician and adviser Luigi Marliano.[1] It was emblematic of Marliano's vision of a Christian empire spanning beyond the boundaries of the Old World"

Not sure if this name will be very popular in the Americas...

Actually, in the context of this airline, Plus Ultra refers to a Dornier Do J flying boat which completed the first transatlantic flight between Spain and South America in January 1926 with a crew of Spanish aviators, from Palos de la Frontera, Huelva to Buenos Aires, via Gran Canaria, Cape Verde, Fernando de Noronha, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and Montevideo.

Effective 12/3/18, Plus Ultra is canceling its flights to SCL, with low profitability of the route given as the reason. Lately, the flights to SCL included a stop in LIM. PU entered the Chile-Spain market in 7/17.

Correct. PU only has 2 A340-300s and wet leases one of them to CU frequently, the remaining one being deployed to LIM and SCL. In order to meet the schedule, oftentimes it had to lease Privilege Style's 777 to cover the SCL flights.

Correction, PU has 3 aircraft.

It sounds like something Boeing would name the 737 in 20 or 30 years when they run out of other generic positive adjectives.

The 737 plus ultra mega super will seat 300 people and fly well into the year 2450. Pilotless, of course, but still controlled by a Yoke pulling cables.

I think the market right now is not the best on the route, but it's also true that they could make money because not many airline fly to CCS anymore, so if it works they can make good money. The problem could be getting the money out of Venezuela, so airlines had that problem before and that's why they stop the routes to CCS.

Here we go again...hardly a thread here involving Venezuela without the "hard to get the money out" comment.
The truth is there is no problem with this, for the simple reason that no foreign airline sells tickets in Venezuela, and practically none has for the last 2 or 3 years. That problem is of the past.
And yes, CCS-MAD is probably not the best route choice for PU, as it is already operated by IB and UX, who can offer connections from MAD, which PU cannot. And the market on the MAD side is tiny due to safety concerns in Venezuela, and on the CCS side because of the economic struggles of Venezuela. So while it is true that ever fewer airlines operate here (EQ was the last to leave a few weeks ago), MAD is just too unaffordable for too much of the population here. And those who can afford it have IB and UX already.

However, your argument is valid for more affordable and more popular destinations, such as MIA. SBAirlines folded a few months ago, and now AA announced that it will operate MIA-CCS with a 757 rather than a 737 beginning March. This is an increase in capacity of 10%, from 160 daily seats to 176.

Just as popular as the spelling Méjico in México!! If the provenance of the Latinate Spanish national motto is even known or its meaning understood. But IMHO it is a good name for an airline.

Don't underestimate the Venezuelan diaspora in Spain, particularly in Madrid. Unofficial sources talk of 250.000 people. If these people have a job, and still have family members in Venezuela, I'm sure they will travel there as often as they can. In addition, many of them pay for their family members' tickets to emigrate to Spain. 500 more seats a week is not unreasonable.
