Let's hope this is true. Maybe politics or maybe the face that Jetblue is NY's Hometown airline saved ROC and or SYR. If ROC is saved could the impossible happen and there be an expansion in ROC like the addition of BOS and or FLL?

Excited to announce on this thread that ROC has finally acquired B6 BOS service starting in january. I have mixed emotions on this as I am really excited to have B6 finally serve my hometown of BOS from ROC. However sadly I graduate RIT two weeks before the service starts...

It seems like I didn't go to the next page, y'all beat me to it!
Interestingly enough this comes as AC heads out of ROC, where it currently occupies the gate next to B6's. Will we see a 2nd B6 Gate at ROC?

I wonder if AA will be able to keep up with JetBlue on the route, given the connections (and likely ongoing lower fares) B6 would offer. I hope both carriers stay. If AA leaves the route, I would guess B6 goes up to two daily.

Looks like B6 will have two planes in at the same time twice daily at ROC.
Times are for when planes are departing or arriving ROC:
B6 185 ROC-JFK 5:30am
B6 286 JFK-ROC 9:15am
B6 485 ROC-JFK 9:50am
B6 712 ROC-BOS 9:50am
B6 586 JFK-ROC 4:00pm
B6 713 BOS-ROC 4:06pm
B6 685 ROC-JFK 4:38pm
B6 486 JFK-ROC 12:10am+1
What gets me is where is that BOS bound plane originally coming from to do B6 712? Is there a future annoucement from B6 coming for even more service to ROC? Maybe it's really twice daily to BOS? It could also be that they are repositioning that second JFK flight to go to BOS instead since the times are dead on.

SyracuseAvGeek wrote:AA has 2x ROC - BOS and 1daily SYR which is at a horrible time and is always delayed. I’m surprised they haven’t dropped these routes yet as AA doesn’t have much connecting traffic (other than to their hubs) out of BOS and their only non-hub routes are SYR, ROC, and MDT . They have to be doing poorly since B6 started SYR-BOS. I suspect that after B6 begins ROC-BOS AA will drop to 1daily or drop it all together.
Back in 2008-2009 AA operated SYR-DFW and B6 SYR-FLL and they both dropped in 2009 due to fuel prices and low gate space. Since then B6 has restarted SYR-FLL , any chance in seeing SYR-DFW restart with a E175?
History of SYR-DFW:
Back in 2008/09 AA didn’t operate and aircraft large enough to fly the route with a full payload, their largest plane at the time (without going to mainline) was the E145 and it took severe payload restrictions (only fill 30ish of the seats). That meant each passenger was paying a lot more than if the plane was full. Now that they have a plane that can fly it at full capacity (or very close it it) which is the E175, do you see the route starting back up again?
Thoughts?

BOS-ROC for AA is 3x right now. However yes when JetBlue enters AA will likely have a hard time while flying high-cost ERJ-140's.
Regarding DFW. I'm not sure about SYR but I believe BUF and ROC were operated with a CRJ700. Now that BUF is restarting, ROC and SYR would be prime additions with the EMB175 this time around

The B6 one is better suited for connections while AA's is more PTP. Interestingly enough during the winter w/ the seasonal FLL flight B6 overnights 3 planes in SYR (BOS, FLL and MCO) while the 2 JFK flights don't come till later in the day. The 3rd plane always park at the former NW gate 14 and shares a waiting area w/ the other 2.

This is great. Does ITH really need 6 gates though? Would be nice to have for diversions I guess.

Airlines dont want a lounge ..... they want incentives. Pitt international airport is notorious for that. Hence how they got all of their international flights,.

Why is there always somebody who has to change something that doesn’t need changing.

I would argue, it needs to not be changed. I don't think International confuses people. I don't think many people thing they're going to drive up to ROC and hop on a non stop to HKG, but International in the name gives a scale to the name. People hear that and the think the airport is a certain size and can get them places. Airports with Regional in the name tend to have 2 daily flights to a couple hubs, and that's it. Take International out of the name, and people are going to think that ROC isn't as big of an airport as BUF and SYR, who both have International in the name. If nothing else, gotta keep up with the Jones'

True, but a lounge is basically a requirement if you're going to have international first class.

The only reason why ROC is "international" is because they have customs / immigration at the airport. Its not the international flights .... that make an airport international.
BUF and SYR have them too.

But the Friend Ship Blue Star livery is a classic, and good on UA for doing an A320 in it! I'd love to see UA do retro-jets of all the Continental, People Express, New York Air, Eastern--all the 'components' of the current-day United.
Anyone here who's into 1:400 diecast airliner models knows there's a new 767-200 mould out. I'm hoping they do a banana DHL. I'm trying to get models of every jumbo that has served ROC.

Looks like finalized (as of now) schedule for B6 in ROC for April/May is as follows (updated this week from misfiling last week):
B6185 ROC 0545 JFK 0652 E90
B6712 ROC 0947 BOS 1102 E90
B6485 ROC 1440 JFK 1558 E90

B6713 BOS 1519 ROC 1650 E90
B6486 JFK 2250 ROC 0020 (+1) E90
Overall, the 4 flights per day capacity for ROC is the most solid B6 has been in this market in years.
