IAD is currently having a lot of go-arounds due to wind shear.

I was watching that one. Ferry flight or replacement section?

Haven't checked DCA; are they using 33 for arrivals and departures?

No dice, missed approach.
CapitalAvGeek wrote:I just heard on atc that there is a ramp freeze at Dulles due to VIP movement for 20 minutes. Wonder what this could be?
UA6320 diverting to PIT because of no landing traffic is allowed at IAD.

My better half said that the President is flying out of Dulles today instead of Andrews. I thought that sounded a bit weird, but I guess not.

Departing runway 30 right now

Do they keep a backup at IAD or did they ferry it over from ADW? Willing to risk the winds on the ferry flight but not the actual flight?
graham697 wrote:Quasi-anecdotal, but it seems like AA has largely given up on DCA ops today. I don't see many AA planes on their way to DCA.

Southwest just went in on 33. So yes, all kinds of planes landing on 33. Can a A321/B757 use 33? That would be the only plane I would wonder about.

jfklganyc wrote:You cant really depart 33. It is very short.
Landing is different, you need less room especially with 50 kt winds.
I would imagine 1 is being used for deps for mainline ac. Unless contaminated x-wind limits are exceeded...and then there are no takeoffs.
A 757 out of DCA on 33 had to be full power, lightly fueled, lightly loaded.

33 is only runway in operation at the moment at DCA

I was just listening to liveATC and they told diverting flights that alternates along the coast were going to close, DL210 MAD-JFK apparently decided to divert to CVG (!), AA148 CLT-JFK will go to PIT after 2 missed approaches...
Definitely not fun for the passengers but better safe than sorry.
