So I was checking out my Facebook and went to southwest face book and and it says they got a fun and special annnoumemt to share at 1230pm east coast 1130 dallas time.....Tomrrow

Based on their Instagram story, I expect it to be a state-special scheme. The sneak preview they showed has a blue front and what look to be yellow stars on the engines. Indiana One?

Well possible, but I don't think they are going to paint a plane in the state's scheme before operating or announcing service there.

Well possible, but I don't think they are going to paint a plane in the state's scheme before operating or announcing service there.

Southwest will be starting 3 new nonstop routes on Thursday: AUA-FLL, CVG-PHX (through April 7th), and HOU-MKE. Southwest will also be extending its schedule to November 3rd on Thursday.

Is Southwest going to be announcing any new nonstop routes in the special announcement tomorrow?

jplatts it does not say on southwest facebook page other then We've got a fun and special announcement to share. Tune in tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. (CST) to join the celebration! and had a link to click on to watch it and to set a reminder for folks on face book. alot of comments on the facebook that folks are guessing think it could be Honolulu

Looks like it. They updated the time to 1130 CST and post location is New Orleans.

There’s a wrapped plane that they posted a picture of, the location is Louisiana. Look up the state flag and you’ll see one of the baby birds on the engine.. It’s a specialty plane...

WN started service to MSY in 1978 so this would make it their 40-year anniversary. This has to be a Louisiana state flag special livery.

Both N455WN and N946WN look to be in VCV right now. I'm guessing it will be 946 for this plane.

Confirmed Louisiana One. The Press Conference is scheduled tomorrow in New Orleans... now to triangulate the plane via the arrivals list.

EDIT: N953WN has been in GEG since Feb 7th.

As noted earlier in the thread, WN began serving MSY in 1979; WN's first foray into Georgia was just six years ago. You might see an Oklahoma One before a Georgia One, to be honest.

Their service level, IMO, is drectly related to the wright amendment and not demand. They're barely an hour away from Love, so Southwest could send 20 flights north then onto other destinations. It feels like OKC and TUL have taken a big frequency hit when the wright restrictions were lifted.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but are you saying OKC to TUL has a similarity (distance wise) of MDW to ORD or FLL to MIA? If so, I think you're mistaken on distances - OKC-TUL is 121 miles, whereas MDW-ORD is 16 and FLL-MIA is 21.

No pictures yet but according to the WN instagram page it looks like a big party, with Trombone Shorty playing, Mardi Gras Indians in the house, etc, under a giant tent. Perfect day weather wise for this...clear and about 60.
