EZE is in the midst of a major upgrade that will see the existing 3 terminals morphed into one, in two separate departures & arrivals buildings. Major increase in the number of gates (contact & remote), new control tower, new taxiways, new LED lighting on the two runways, short & long term parking spaces, etc. Work is to be completed by 2021. The new control tower is situated mid point between the existing 11-29 runways and a future parallel runway which should be part of a future expansion phase.

Glad to see major Latin American airports like EZE and MEX being overhauled to accommodate the immensely growing air markets that each country is cultivating. Overdue, but nonetheless, a welcomed project by travelers and Argentinians alike!

I always thought the previous expansion (c. 2012) looked incomplete. This looks like a solid expanion to keep EZE competitive for a long time to come. Only looked at the article but would there be enough gate space to move AEP's operation into EZE?

There are no plans for such move; only AEP's international services to Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Bolivia will go back to EZE by April 2019. AEP is far too popular with travelers; although the new EZE includes a domestic terminal, as EZE is already the second (out of 3) domestic hub for Buenos Aires.
