Wow, what a beast! Stunning looking aircraft. The long fuselage really makes the lines of the 787 come alive...! The -8 looks so stubby in comparison...

Stunning! Can’t wait to see more 787-10 in the skies!!

SQ certainly have a varied fleet! They do turn them over fast!

Gorgeous plane for a great airline. I wish SQ the best with their 787-10s. Given their need for high density shorter range operations it seems a perfect jet for them, and keeping the CASM down is always a good thing. I look forward to seeing what their new regional business class seats look like.

Its Beautiful! We are probably entering era of -10. They will work so very well as regional people movers.

Sure is a great looking plane and will no doubt be very profitable for Temasek. Wonder what kind of discount SQ wrangled out of Boeing for them?

It looks like the landing gear could use 3 sets of wheels.

As the aircraft will primarily be deployed within Asia Pacific on routes of up eight hours’ duration, SIA has chosen a two-class layout for the 787-10, comprising 36 new, soon-to-be-revealed, regional business class seats offering direct aisle access for every passenger, and 301 economy class seats in a 3-3-3 layout for a total of 337.

Wow, 337 total seats.

Nope. The -10 is the same TOW as the -9 and was never specified with a three-wheel bogie.

Is the SQ's 787-10's going to do regional routes only since there is no first class cabin?

They also have a business class so you can sit in there. This econ layout is pretty much the global standard for the next 30 years so you'll either have to fly business or take the bus.

No, I can fly on a 767 with 2-3-2 seating. I can fly on a 330 or 340 with 2-4-2 seating. I can also fly on a 350 with 3-3-3 seating, but the cabin width is wider. I can fly on a 777 with 3-3-3 seating on numerous carriers.

Yet the plane is so light it doesn't need the extra weight and cost of the 3rd set of wheels.

Pretty much optimized right up to the limit of what the current MLG can do.

I tend to agree when they are on the ground I think they don't look the best but when in the air and the gear is all cleaned up i think they look great. Maybe it's the short landing gear that makes it look stubby?

Can anyone please tell me the reason why rows 74 & 75 on the right side have only and isle and window seat? What is in that area that doesn't allow the middle seat?

Great looking plane.

Just an educated guess, that due to the cabin getting narrower towards the back, they just go down to two seats. There isn't a gap like the seat plan might suggest. Other 787 operators also have a reduction of seats in that general area.

Ziyulu wrote:

Most 787 operators have gone 3-3-3. Even though SQ might be seen as more premium, this plane is going to be used mostly on regional flights. Can't really expect 2-4-2 for that type of operation. Their longer routes will continue being on the 777 (3-3-3), A350 and A380 aircraft.

Regardless of how you feel I don't think they will have any problems filling seats. Don't blame the plane, blame the airlines and by extension the passengers who by and large want cheap seats, not more room.

Couldn't agree more, the landing gear is short and stubby for a plane of its size and the nose has the shape of a minivan, and even worse the shortness of the 9 and especially the 8 make it look like a minivan with wings.

The a350 is far more beautiful IMO, with that said the 787-10 is the better looking of the 787 and SQs livery helps it look a little less ugly.

Boy, that's a lot of plane behind the MLG. How long before neglectful loading puts someone's 78X on its tailskid?

Yes the SQ lovey is not doing any favors when it comes to length. The whole point of a cheat line is to emphasize length, that is why it is called a cheat line.

What a time. It is great to see these projects come in. Not only design work, but the fiddly production details must be a colossal amount of work. Even through first delivery, the bugfixing and formation of SOPs is intense. A first delivery to an airline like Singapore is a testament to the skill and hard work (and hopes) of many people. GOOD JOB BOEING WORKERS.

It's the same MLG that's on the 787-9. Both the 787-9 and 787-10 have bigger MLG than the 787-8.

The 787-10 is as close to a straight stretch of the 787-9 as you get in aviation. Maximum weights are the same and components and systems have only the minimum changes needed for the longer body.

So now we know (before we have a Boeing-blessed payload-range chart): 9000+ nm still air distance is too big a bite for even a mostly empty 78X.

UA, which will also be the first 78J with the GEnx (SQ uses Trents) and the first 787 for all of UA with the Polaris hard product (which couldn't be installed on factory-new 788s and 789s due to existing contracts with B/E Aerospace that UA couldn't break).

Which would require a lot of really expensive re-design and re-engineering: wing, fairings, engines, MLG.

And for how big a market?

Who knows. Look what happened after Boeing launched the 777-300ER and with only 10 firm order from Air France. It may not happen until the current models are due for a MAX upgrade but I highly doubt we won't ever see a 787-10ER.

Got to see the monster in person Saturday. It is long compared to the 9's near it. I thought the SQ livery looked great.
