200? Just a matter of which airport expands sooner with expanded terminal/2nd RWY etc...... either DEL/BLR IMO. Mumbai with NMIA could also join maybe around FY 2021-22 (?)
What happened to the revised masterplan of BLR? They were supposed to come out with one early this year.
Their second runway is to be operational from next year and the new terminal around '21. Not sure if anything has been revised or changed from that.
Also, NMIA capacity is to be upped to accommodate close to 90mm pax/year. Its still quite silly of them to consider just 2 parallel runways despite knowing demand can go up further than that. Also the place selected for the airport already looks a bit land locked with roads and streams around which means no further expansion will take place if they want to in future. It would be a CSIA like episode again.
They could take cues from Beijing's new Daxing Airport- which shares a lot of similarities to BOM ,in the sense, both cities are getting a much awaited second major airport after long. Though Beijing has another at Nanyuan, it's not feasible to be used hence will be closed.
Also, both Daxing and NMIA are getting their terminals designed by Zaha Hadid architects. Only big difference is the capacity of Daxing being built to accommodate 200mm pax/year, more than double that of the designed capacity of NMIA.
