TN 787 Update

Does anyone know if the first TN 787 has entered production?

I read somewhere it will be entering service in October of this year, but only starting out PPT-AKL. I want to book LAX-PPT when it comes online but surprised they would start AKL before LAX.

Any insight on developments?

There's still about 40 frames to enter FAL before it enters. So a while more. Probably end July/early August.

So, by end of 2019, they should be all 787-9. At the moment, what do they do with their 5th A340-300? Is it just rotated as a spare?

Their schedule at the moment is 2x weekly PPT-NRT, 3x weekly PPT-AKL, daily PPT-LAX-CDG, and 6x weekly PPT-LAX. This utilizes a full 4 aircraft, meaning with 4 787s, they will have no growth planned.

Yes, the 5th A340 is just rotated as a spare. An A340 is sitting at PPT at all times unless the spare needs to go rescue a flight when an aircraft goes out of service at an outstation. The spare obviously also allows the operation to recover faster if there's a long delay
