Airsick Bags

Wed Aug 25, 1999 1:09 am

I've noticed that a lot of people collect airsick bags. Do airlines put their corperate logos on them? I was just wondering because I frequently fly Shuttle america and they have all white air sick bags.

Yes, most airlines do put their logos on the airsickness bags. I have one from Finnair that I got three years ago (forgot to swipe one this summer when I flew them) But I only know that Finnair does it. I'm sure other airlines do too, but i'm not positive.

Our airline does not put our logo on them. Not good advertising!

Q. Do people collect them for personal use? Or are they like new cars: best only after slightly used?

Best Regards!!

Southwest will be putting an advertisement on their airsickness bags. It will state, "Sick of you Job?…." --Catchy recruiting tool!

I've never noticed logos on America West, Delta, US Air, or American.

Air sick bags is a collectors item. In Norway both Scandinavian airlines (SAS), Braathens and Widerøe have their logos on their bags.

I have one from Eastern. Years ago, they had a solid light blue background with vines and flowers in white. When they changed their interiors from blue highlights to brown highlights, they changed the light blue backgrounds on their airsick bags to brown. Everything else stayed the same. Above the flowers and vines are these words:

For motion discomfort. After use, fold toward you.
Para mareo. Al terminar, doblelo hacia usted.

At the bottom of the bag, it has the stylized falcon logo and the word EASTERN.

Alpi Eagles (small Italian airline) printed quite a nice slogan on their sickness bags:
"Use this low-tech device for high-altitude relief".
Nice, isn't it?

There are quite a few sickbag sites on the net. I would say that most airlines have or had logos on their bags. Some have advertising, some have games, some even double up as photo processing envelopes.....and then you get onto the different sizes, materials, rarity.... They can be quite collectible. It's a sgame that airlines in the USA don't give them more thought.Charles (a collector)

I would think that it would be more cost effective for an airline to not put their name or logo on the bag. With printed bags, even on a flight where one wasn't actually used, chances are you'll have to replace a few that have been taken by collectors or souvenier hunters.
I fly Delta. The bags are just white.

This is more of a thing of the past, but many bags used to double as seat occupied cards, and say "This seat is occupied" on them. This was for direct flights, to indicate that you have deplaned at the intermediate stop but I have not left completely. Nowadays, the computers almost never give one seat to two people, so the seat occupied cards aren't needed.

This summer I took a nice AirFrance sickness bag. British Airways had a cool one too... it also doubled as a rubbish collecting bag for small items such as cups and peanuts wrapper.

It's reasonable to assume that big established airlines would have their own style bags with logos, while start-up and small carriers would use commonly plain white ones  .

Barfbags a really good hobby to collect. I , myself's also another collector of Airsickness bags , its interesting to see the style.. and the strength of barfbags.. like Gnarly said , some airlines make it as photo-development bag , advertisement , games.. or doggy bags. You could also trade them.. to see some 150 barfbags if you are curious.. visit my site

Aeroflot - Russian International Airlines does put their logo on their airsick bags, as well as directions on how to use the bag (in English and Russian). It's probably the most well-done airsick bag I've seen, so much so that I took one off a plane this summer on an Aeroflot flight.

Here in AUSTRALIA. Both Ansett and Qantas have airsick bags with adverts on them: At the moment, both have an advert from a photo company which u can send off your films to by post and get them back not only as prints but on disk and on T-shirts and stuff:
Very clever marketing
