Could there be a YVR-VIE nonstop flight?
Since AC is resuming YVR-ZRH after a 20 years absence, with a seasonal thrice-weekly service, could there be something akin with VIE either with OS or AC metal?

With OS WB shortage that's not something we'll see from them in the near future. As for AC, I believe they have bigger fish to fry out of YVR. YVR-VIE O&D should be negligible, YVR is horribly located for EU-NA connections (although I'm doing a DEN-YVR-FRA connection soon) and almost anything reachable out of VIE can also be reached via FRA and especially MUC. ZRH is also different in that it's local market is one of the wealthiest anywhere and people are willing to pay a significant premium for NS especially in the front cabin.

YVR is AC's TPAC hub. I don't see how much economic and cultural connection there is with Vienna.

Not if it's on a 787.

Not if it's on a 787.
I don't follow your comment. A 787 could easily make the range requirements.
The answer the this question is like any. Sure there could be a YVR-VIE flight. So far, no airline has felt it would be profitable enough to start it. VIE is a great city, but doesn't have a lot of non-stop service to North America.

Got it. I don’t recall that any North American Airlines serve VIE, do they? dL has in the past.

I don't think there is enough demand for a direct flight. Rather taking advantage of * Alliance via FRA or ZRH.

It would make sense to put passengers on the AC flight to LHR and transfer passengers to all the Star Alliance partners there including OS.

No, and with a total of 11 Widebodies (6 763s and 5 772s) in their fleet, I can't see YVR being near the top of their list of destinations to be served.

Until AC starts YYZ-VIE, I don't see YVR-VIE even having the possibility of happening.

OS already operate YYZ-VIE (with an AC codeshare), so i can't see AC opening it, too.

Would have to be settled under the frame work of A++. They woud probably need to give up YYZ to AC & codeshare with them in order to do YVR.
