Previous thread on livery locked. This is the first aircraft with the updated blue livery. Looks very similar to me. It is a Boeing 747-400 (D-ABVM)

Yes, the logo is definitely larger to go with the slightly different shade of blue.

Agreed. Also the yellow window is now at L1 and L2 rather than just L1.

I can't get past it - even more so with the lighter color.

UTA = awesome livery.

Yellow is a good color. If using more of it was too budgety cheapy for a premium image, then why not tint it towards gold. This new look is too much like a legal office that tries hard to appear serious and competent, scared of appearing creative or soulful. No twinkle or sparkle.

I prefer the darker colour, of the two (neither is good )

Equally as dull and boring as the earlier version IMHO. Perhaps they could have tried the UTA approach and painted all of the doors yellow.

Actually I think the new livery looks not too bad. The darker one, however, does seem a little bit humdrum

Well I suppose since the current scheme has been around for a year longer than I’ve been alive.

The larger tail logo is a big improvement but I'm not sure the lighter shade of blue is...

I think the biggest problem with this livery is how unequal it is, there's too much focus on the tail and very little design elsewhere making it tail heavy. Nice to see LH management listen to the public response, not often a big company does that.

It looks clean, fresh. and easy to maintain. Not much new under the sun for a paint scheme.

Always liked the ‘extended vertical fin paint’ but this is pretty crummy overall



Getting rid of the yellow is a big mistake
their previous livery was classic, clean, dignified and very German.


Not as bad as the worst livery change of all time when AA abandoned their stunning

I'd like someone to see how the crane would look in yellow and the circle outline in the colours of the German flag.
Any graphic designers out there that can reproduce that for here please ?

This will never be my favorite livery but with such small changes I honestly think this one is palatable

hopefully they wont end up like this (after modification of the modification of the new C/S) ...

They should have made the crane gold instead of white, It would have popped a little bit more.

So we traded dark blue/black for purple? I'm sure FEDEX is pleased that someone liked their livery enough to copy it.

KLM aside and BA aside, among the major European carriers, it’s rather ironic that the ULCCs have the best/most expensive/eye catching liveries out there, while the “full service” carriers are the ones with the cheap looking/bland Eurowhite and often amateurish liveries, most of whom having ruined their formerly great livery...cough Iberia cough at the top of the heap.

Forward thinking, would it be, had they changed it to Airliners.net, background blue!!! Create a mixed buzz on A.net and then gratify them all!!! The ultimate Maho Beach shot!!!!

They removed grey from the underside and engines, and took the yellow from the tail, which at the same time they claimed the yellow complimented the blue with their branding. Honestly this livery change was just about taking things. I think it did cheapen the branding.

It’s not “terrible”, it’s a nice blue tail and looks solid, but it’s too plain. Not as bad as China Eastern or JAL.

Iberia did the worst when it scrapped the IB for an indistinguishable, uninspired “swoosh”.

I think a two tone white and gold crane (white with a gold shadow) would have looked good. The larger crane does help but overall it is boring. Is it just me or does the new shade of blue appear to be purple? Either way it is still ugly.

The new blue is less "classy", although the larger logo is a plus. Why not just enlarged the logo with the "old" darker blue?

The new Icelandair 737Max livery makes for a decent Lufthansa livery. This could be improved with yellow cowlings too, especially on the twin engine fleet.

I like it - just a shame they didn’t do something with the winglets or to balance it out more forward.

They need to make the crane and the circle on the tail fin much bolder.

I'll bet in a grey or rainy day, or at nighttime, the revised logo on the tail fin will still be barely visible.

Imho the darker blue was nicer.
But LH's best livery is the "Retro" one, actually on the 748.
And also the experimental naked 727 (early 80's) was a stunner.

The doors really should be yellow all around - ala UTA.

I prefer the original dark blue. It was unique to LH. The fact that it was so dark that it looked black in some light made it interesting.

The new, lighter blue is everyone’s blue. It looks like every other airlines’ blue. It looks cheesy.

My overall sense is the corporate theatre went something like this... there was a bit of noise about the blue being black... overreaction and panic ensued, “oh no we can’t have that”... a rash decision was made, “Oh just lighten it up”... the consulting team said to themselves, “They don’t get it. They just messed up the “premium” feel that’s in the brand DNA. Now they’ve gone back to where we started, lost between Legacy and ULCC”... and Bubba Schwanz Schnitzel and his team, who never liked the consultants, ran to the hangar, whipped out the spray paint and said, “Hurry, start painting, before they change their minds!

As far as the size of the logo, it’s a flip of the coin for me on the 748. The photo of the revised new livery does not look as sharp/focused as the comparison photo, therefore the logo does not look as crisp. I’d like to see the larger logo on an A320 to compare.

The blue seems to vary according to lighting, camera setting and editing. Here it looks the same as the old darker shade.

I have to agree with some before me in that the new purple tinge is a big no no

Nice to see Wamos Air leasing a 747 to Lufthansa for the high season.

Oh wait.

It still looks like a cheap charter carrier that quickly threw something together. Disappointing.

What’s the reason for the yellow windows?

The dark blue is far better. Not sure about the logo size.
