Tue May 15, 2018 8:29 am

Royal Jordanian Airlines CEO, Mr. Stephan Picher has stated in an interview with a local UAE newspaper that the airline is in the process of ordering 23 new plane as its eyeing its fleet renewal.
The airline is currently in discussions with 4 aircraft manufacturers, Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Embrear for the best offers. The announcement is expected by September.

Mr. Picher has also stated that the company is eyeing expansion in Europe, the levant and the U.S.

RJ is currently in a turnaround phase which aims to increase revenue by 7% and reduce costs by 5%.

Will the airline launch IAD and LAX as once rumored?

I assume these are narrow body acft; RJ recently cancelled what would have bwen it's last 788 because it didn't believe it would be able to operate it profitably .

IAD is not a rumor, RJA made its intention public to open this route along side Copenhagen & Stockholm during this upcoming Summer season.

Can Royal Jordanian overfly all neighbouring countries?

Yes it can. Jordan is a peace loving nation. Does not have problems with its neighbours.. Syria might be an exception for the moment, I do not think that RJ overflies Syria.

They don't need more widebodies, they have A320/A321 for narrow bodies, so I assume they will go for A320neo and A321neo.

They are a great company, and a great ambassador for a lovely nation. I hope they expand and make AMM a truly great hub.

Overflying Syria may not be the best of ideas. Remember, the Russians are in Syria too and we may well get another scenario where an airliner is shot down like the Malaysian B777 over the Ukraine not that long ago :shakehead:

Yes it can, however this depends on the destination of the flight (as some neighbouring countries do not have bilateral relations). As a result RJ cannot overfly Israel when flying AMM-BEY and, given that RJ doesn't overfly Syria at the moment, these flights take quite the detour. Same for AMM-CAI, although the detour is shorter.

They could go for the CSeries instead, you know. I also believe they'll ditch the Embraers and go for a single fleet, so it could be both CSeries versions.

I would hope they'd do this anyway and there's no reason why they wouldn't.

They are a great company - I've flown them in Crown Class several times and they were unforgettable flights. Jordan is a great place to visit too, such friendly people everywhere. Plus there's the Dead Sea and Petra and Jerash so it has some amazing attractions too.
I do enjoy a spot of flying, especially when it's not in economy!

With the loss of Air Berlin, Oneworld is fairly weak in Eastern Europe and the Middle East now. It seems like RJ could take some of that slack, although they do have to compete against Qatar and to some extent Finnair.

I have only flown them once - through AMM to visit family in TLV. I thought they were a well run airline, and AMM is a beautiful airport that it easy too make connections.
