Is WN going to be announcing SAT-BOS, SAT-SMF, and/or SAT-SJC nonstop service tomorrow? BOS, SMF, and SJC are three of the top destinations traveled to from SAT that currently don't have any nonstop service from SAT, and WN could add nonstop service to these three destinations from SAT.

Other possibilities include B6 starting service out of SAT with nonstop service to BOS (and possibly FLL and JFK), DL adding nonstop service to SEA, BOS, CVG, and/or RDU from SAT, AA adding nonstop service to JFK from SAT, NK starting service out of SAT, and AS adding nonstop service to PDX and/or California destinations from SAT. DY, FI, or WW adding transatlantic service to SAT is another possibility.

Is SAT within the limits of DCA and LGA?
If so I see WN adding both with the additional slots picked up from AS.
I believe DCA and LGA both give WN an additional RON at each airport.

It's outside of DCA limits and it was recently shot down by the House, but is being pushed in the Senate now. AA and UA are fighting it while WN is supporting it.

SAT is not within the LGA and DCA perimeters, and an extra beyond-perimeter slot exemption would need to be added for WN to be able to serve DCA nonstop from SAT. AUS is beyond the DCA perimeter, but WN has a beyond-perimeter slot exemption that allows WN to do 1 daily nonstop in each direction between AUS and DCA. WN can do Saturday-only nonstop service to destinations outside of the LGA perimeter (including SAT), and WN did operate seasonal Saturday-only nonstop service to LGA from SAT back in Fall 2017.

I could see WN resuming Saturday-only nonstop service to LGA from SAT, but WN will not be adding SAT-DCA nonstop service due to the DCA perimeter rule. The DCA perimeter rule does not allow Saturday-only nonstop service to a beyond-perimeter destination without a beyond-perimeter slot exemption.

Norwegian would be cool, but we haven't heard a thing on here about even a rumor or heard of them working on an incentive package.

Zero chance. Just as Norwegian. AUS, not that far down the road, will be getting the TATL service. It will likely be a F9 rous or two.

The clue was they said dots not a dot. Frontier loves to do this now throw a bunch of cities out there and see what works.

I looked at some random dates in September and found 2x weekly CMH-SAT nonstop loaded into F9's website (wednesdays and saturdays). Not bookable yet but it's there

Same thing at RDU. They serve over 20 destinations I think, but they prob have a total of <10 flights/day.

It's interesting, they are taking a page from Southwest. One MEM date showed MEM to SAT via DEN and TUL with the TUL stop a no plane change. I assume this is how they are going to to cut down on connection times.

Frontier is stringing the darts together now. I saw a BKG to MCO routed Den to GRR(no plane change)to Orlando.

They sending the planes from Denver to a smaller market like Tulsa to another larger market like SAT. This is their way to improve loads.

Would love to see something like SAT-MEM-RDU-BOS

ABQ is the only one of these routes that makes even remote sense. I'll be shocked if many/any of these stick.

OKC and ABQ might hang around longer than six months. The others? Doubtful.

SAT - OKC/TUL. I'm surprised that WN never picked those up.

They are trying to keep the routes around by putting the smaller stations like Tulsa in the middle. Like DEN-TUL-SAT. They are blocking 1hr for the no plane change turnarounds. They are emulating WN by expanding two stop routing but having one being a no plane change. There are still some horrific overnight layovers in DEN. I guess more planes coming from that order may help that but that's at least two years away.

No way these routes, or the routes in AUS, last longer than one year.

The amount of people who are going to fly DEN-TUL/OKC-SAT is tiny

Not that it wasn’t abundantly clear already but F9 has too much capacity in search of a strategy. As a Clevelander I remember when it was our turn for such love, but so many of the flights are now long gone.

Kind of curious as to why F9 is starting SAT-CLT. AA has 4 non-stops on the route. Back in the day, if a small carrier dared to start service on a route to an AA hub, AA dumped seats and lowered fares. IIRC, the government went after AA, after it dumped seats and lowered fares on DFW-MCI, after Vanguard started the route.

Service to TUL and OKC is clearly aimed at AA and WN, both of which currently require a connection out of SAT.

It look a like they are developing a hybrid strategy between Allegiant and Southwest. Less than daily and an emphasis on leasure like Allegiant and routing like Southwest. I assume the long term goal with the parent company's order book at AB is to trend more to the Southwest model over time.

It would have been exotic and historic compared to places like Charlotte, Cleveland, Columbus, Oklahoma City, Omaha and Tulsa.
