FlightAware and FR24 have American 1334 off the ground. It sounds like it was Cubana 972 to HOG.

Everyone is reporting a 737. Its likely leased/wet leas if its to Cubana. Other possibility is a charter to Florida. I have seen a 737 in "Havana Air" colors when its actually a flight operated by someone like Xtra.

I am leaning towards a leased 737 for Cubana given that is what the state run media is reporting.

All signs pointing to this was a Blue Panorama 737

flightradar24 lists this flight as "unknown"

11:00 AM CU972

Cubana 737
Unknown

EDIT: but then again, flightradar24 lists the entire history of CU972 as "unknown."

GCM is Grand Cayman. There is a George Town on that island and a Georgetown in Guyana.

This site is full of airline nerds/ AV Geeks. I think we can all say that our hearts go out to those involved! A plane crash is always a terrible thing and a reminder of how lucky we are to disembark safely...a reminder to myself as I hop on and off airplanes like taxi's that not all flights end well. Rare, but when it happens it can feel like otherwise.

Indeed. Remember this when you're bitching that there's no ice, that there's no gluten free option or you 'took off late' despite no airline actually publishing take off times. Be lucky you get to your destination.

Can we just let it go? Probably a poor choice of expressing himself when thinking it might have been a US carrier. Doesn't mean he values anyone else less, but rather had a natural reaction to thinking one of his country's airliners had just gone down. It's already becoming a sideshow in this thread which in itself seems to denigrate the tragedy that's unfolding. IMHO

That's a lot of intact pieces of plane that has burned out. Hopefully an indication of survivability!

Updates now saying it was a Global Aerolineas Damojh operated 737. The picture above from WashingtonFlyer would seem to support that, the stabilizers certainly appear similar. Sad day.

Judging by these pics of the crash site, it was NOT the Blue Panorama 734, but the Global Air 732.

Global Aerolineas Damojh operating it. The pics of the crash site sure look like the tail and the colour scheme matches that of Global Aerolinea.

Apparently not the I-BPAC. FR24 tweeted "We've deleted a tweet referencing Blue Panorama with regards to the crash in Havana, as the airline states it was not their aircraft."

Looks like it might be a mexican-registered aircraft instead.

Not necessarily doubting the accuracy, but that paint doesn't look like any pictures available of a Blue Panorama 737 (especially not what is apparently the accident aircraft) and it doesn't seem to match CU's livery either.
