Yeah, my first guess would also be Eurowings. Pretty much the same as Lufthansa, so they can swap planes whenever they want, just replace the crane with the stripes. As the whole LH group plans to unify their fleets (inside and outside) as much as possible, it would be plausible.

This makes the most sense. My first thought was that it was supposed to be a highly stylized version of UA's globe, but given the holiday in the US and how it lines up with LH's crane and shares its blue color it has to be an LH group airline. No way LH themselves would introduce a new livery so quick, and the other LHG brands have logos that are too iconic to ditch completely, which leaves Eurowings. It's a good excuse to ditch the random color splotches and line the airline up closer with its parent airline, at least visually. If Eurowings is supposed to be Lufthansa's holiday/charter/low cost subsidiary it makes sense for its livery to be a variation on that of the parent.

Well, the superimposition is somewhat persuasive.

Also is the fact that the guy is based in Germany, and LH's current A350 livery (which looks terrible/boring) has a tiny version of the bird in a tiny little circle in the middle of a tail that is EXACTLY the same color as the one posted, and otherwise is EXACTLY the same shape and size as the one posted.

Taking the bird off the aircraft is incredibly-lame, and those stripes are just waaaaay too minimalistic to evoke anything. But this is the culture that gave us Walter Gropius and the Bauhaus, so this would seem to fit right in.

So I think we have a winner.

Just a wild guess, LOT Polish Airlines. Same tail color, could just be it.

Nope.

1) Lot is biased towards boeing.
2) Lot had their livery updated in 2012 already.

Scandinavia Airlines have a350 on order and the shade of blue is similar to the one they currently wear on the tail

Eurowings. Brings them in line with Lufthansa and distances them from Air Italy.

With many former airberlin aircraft flying for Eurowings, but still with airberlin livery, there are plenty of aircraft in need for repainting. Good opportunity to introduce a new livery.

It's not going the be Lufthansa, because they just did this stupid, boring, nonsensical rebranding. Now some other airline within the group will adopt the stripy logo. So it's Austrian or Swiss if it's a "major" airline with A350s. That would be a revolutionary change in logo -- and color scheme.

Eurowings has a stripy component to its logo -- and it would fit. However, it's only a rumour that it will deploy A350s. Maybe that's the other component of the upcoming announcement.

I'm guessing that this is a disaster and some future CEO reverses this lunacy -- as happened at Delta.

When did EgyptAir order those A350's? Never heard of it, they have leased 6 789's still to be delivered.

Neither Egypt Air or Eurowings has ordered any A350s? Lufthansa has A350s on order, but is it confirmed that they are going to Eurowings?

Sometime in the last couple of months, one of their executives was talking about ordering more A350 s and putting some at Eurowings. It's not something that they have yet announced that they are going to do. However, I thought it kind of made sense that if they were going to do it, maybe the new logo would debut at the time of the announcement. Just a thought.

Really! Jeez, well at least he didn't hit us with a million ads and prize-winning notifications when we clicked the guy's link.

As for the livery itself, I hope the mystery major airline didn't spend much money on it -- it's kinda absurd. What does it signify?

The only way this could be interpreted to be the future UA livery is to think of it as a combination of both the Tulip and the CO Globe. The curved shape comes from the globe and the four lines represent the four sections of the UA Tulip (which itself represented the 4 time zones of the U.S. mainland). However, this to me seems like an unlikely guess and there's no doubt in my mind that we're looking at a concept for LH that didn't get chosen.

Its one of the drafts for the new LH design to narrow down the "ball park" for the final livery.

I do not agree at all. None of the other livery suggestions is timeless, none good enough to last more than a decade, none really premium.

Actually they could have took part of the third design with the yellow crane and incorporated it with the blue tail and the large Lufthansa lettering on the side in blue. It would have stood out.

In the end the current livery just needs a tiny stripe of yellow in front of the blue tail.

I love this augmentation concept of the current livery. The fuselage may be getting a touch busy but the red sky sunset and flying Springbok blended into the flag are poetry.

I really dislike the new livery because it lacks any yellow, but christ almighty this only yellow version looks 100x worse. If it was between the actual new livery and the picture above I'd take the blue one we got any day.

None of the proposed schemes are particularly great, but IMO the best is #3 with the full crane, even though it gives off distinct Atlantic Airways vibes.

All that traffic this topic had the day before has suddenly disappeared. Where is all the talk now that it was revealed not to be United (which was a ridiculous guess anyway, as they would have done something new on the 787 or 777-300ER already)?

China Airlines - The colours sorta match
Singapore - Just announced that they will merge with SilkAir. Possibly a major rebranding of the entire group coming up? It certainly fits with the "major airline" part.

PR also mentioned recently they were going to under go a rebrand, if this is a draft only and more colour is added - could be for PR.

Why change livery if its beautiful as it is?its the only livery with a sunriser!its pretty recognizeable worldwide!'Philippines' is the only thing i would change.
