The gate count isn't changing between the old and new terminals so its very unlikely that WN will even get to 100 departures a day.

That was yet another completely short-sighted airport move. BUR is the new DAL.

I believe that was the only way they thought it would get past the public vote. Probably easier to build the new terminal at 14 gates and then go back to the voters 10-15 years down the line (remember we are already three or four since the initial proposition) to ask for an expansion.

Quick update: just got word from our local WN management that we are working on taking over Gate A8. AA plans to move to a crowded Terminal B. Falls in line with our growth plans here in Burbank. Projected increase of about 80-85 daily departures a day for WN. Gate A8 will allow an additional -800 gate relieving the congestion of B737-800s waiting for gate space which Gate A7 was our only -800 capable gate.

AS recent announcement of eliminating BUR-SJC should free up 3 to 4 B gate openings. Easing some congestion.

Don't see how that is going to work for AA just based on DL & NK, and AS Mainline schedules which already occupy the existing gates pretty well, plus aren't only B4 & B5 738 capable?

AA has periods with two aircraft on the gate at the same time and I just can't see there being room in B to accommodate that versus A8/A9. Maybe it works if they move AS to A9 and move AA & B6 to B.

An increase of 80-85 depatures or an increase to 80-85?

Increase to about 80-85 daily departures for WN. WN management has explained that’s it’s already a done deal and that A8 will be turned over to WN sometime soon with AA moving to Terminal B

B6 goes 321neo in December on BUR-JFK. Standard configuration, probably testing performance on the route of the 321neo and if results are good can see this turning into a new MINT route. They did hint a few months back on introducing MINT on the BUR route on a Facebook post with a cryptic response to a poster.

It starts on the 15th, unfortunately at the same time they’ve cut the daylight flights, so the NEO is on 358/359 only.

Only 1 daily 12/15-1/8. 1/9 goes back to 2x daily with 321

Haven’t given an update in a while on the WN operation so I might as well now. As of now, we are still running a 72 turns a day out of Burbank with Gates A1-A7 in full use. Gates A5-A6 will be unusable for -800 aircraft for the foreseeable future and giving only Gate A7 the sole -800 gate for WN operations hence a limited -800 schedule in Burbank for at least a couple more months and into the middle of next year.

Starting in the first week of November, we will be trimming our daily schedule to 58 flights peak a day Mon-Fri. Most of the cuts being the hourly shuttle service to San Jose, Oakland, Sacramento as well as reducing frequency on other routes as well. That being said, the City of Burbank asked WN management to reduce the number of flights temporarily to appease the noise complaints coming out of the airport in recent months. Being that BUR is a CUTE airport, Gates A1-A7 will still be held by WN with the reduced schedule for the holidays. On my previous post, we were in talks with AA on acquiring Gate A8 to increase our daily schedule but due to the recent noise complaints we were forced to back out and AA will still be at A8 and A9 for overflow along with B6.

With that aside, it has been my pleasure to update you guys on the goings at the Bob Hope Airport. This might as well be my last update for BUR as I have accepted a transfer to Los Angeles(LAX) airport for WN. Still a couple more weeks in Burbank so if anything changes I’ll be sure to let you guys in.

- Cheers

Planes fly low over my place in Noho all the time and I can't even hear em unless I'm outside. And who even cares, LA has a homeless issue lets focus on that. People need to put their voices together for bigger things, not for this.

Thanks for the updates. Sad we won’t be getting your posts. Good luck at LAX. Hopefully there’s some new blood at that station now. When I was there pre and post 2000 it was awful. I tried getting into BUR for two years and eventually took a transfer to SAN and commuted from the San Fernando Valley daily just to get out of there. A bunch of lazy bad apples at LAX and some crooked sup’s and biased coward managers. I dreamed of working for WN since I was a child living next to BUR and watching planes there from the early days of PSA, Air Cal, Republic and all the carriers from the 80’s and 90’s and eventually WN came to town and I fell in love with them and was saying one day I’ll work for them and I did eventually. My last day was my best day. I never looked back. Sad to see that bad management can kill someone’s dream.

I am very happy with how much service has grown from BUR. I fly almost exclusively from BUR to the Bay Area and other destinations. Lately I've been on a few -800s which used to be pretty rare (maybe still is). Disappointing that AS is discontinuing BUR-SJC because it's nice to have the option to pick my seat... but the schedule was horrible.

The only downside of B6 at BUR is the occasional need to refuel when on B6 flights to JFK. I was on one of the lucky flights that had to do that. Turned a 4.5 hour flight to nearly 7 because there was a problem with the fueling trucks.

Unfortunate to hear that WN is temporarily reducing service at BUR to the Bay Area. Prices are already too high and now will be even higher with fuller flights.

Sad to see some bad apples forcing all us good folks out who work hard for this airline. LAX sure does have its reputation internally for some less than pleasant things but I always come in with a positive attitude when it comes to a new station. While LAX remains super duper busy along with being our biggest freight hub, only hearing positive things now management wise as new blood has taken over the station and realizing the only way you can run a smooth operation is to keep your ground ops team happy and to work together. That said, that’s what I’m gonna miss a ton in BUR. While i as well as everyone else in Burbank have there gripes with local management, I could vouch for all my ground ops family in Burbank that it is the most tight knit group of employees I’ve ever met and have enjoyed every single minute of my time in BUR. The station is truly one of a kind people-wise and operationally quirky. The people are amazing and we look out for each other. For example, we have had employees stuck in the SCV and AV valleys due to the Saddleridge fire unable to get to work so many of us including me who can make it covered there shifts working those 16 hour days. Truly is a family at BUR. That I can say for sure.

BUR sure does have some unique operational challenges that’s for sure!

While it is a bit disappointing, word around is that it is temporary. The pressure from the local government and neighbors concerned about all the noise ultimately led to the decrease for us. But, as of next year it should be back to 70+ turns and eventually up to 80 turns a day for WN.
