Turkish Airline's A321NEO 4 overwing exits and only 4 doors?

Sat Jun 09, 2018 6:05 pm

So I was reading through airbus XFW news, and I stumbled upon a Turkish airlines A321NEO, which had a similar door configuration to an A320. I understand there is a new configuration for the A321, but this A321 also had the mid aft exit doors disabled, leaving 2 doors at the front, 4 over the wing, and 2 at the back. Does anyone know what configuration this a321 has? Here's the link to picture for reference

I think this door configuration is legal if there are 195 seats or less installed.
Come, fly the prevailing winds with me

It’s probably a Low Density seating option for Turkish for Prenium routes, as it has to have less than 195 seats for this to be legal, it will probably be something like a Prenium aircraft with more First Class seats onboard, like AAs Prenium Transcon A321, that’s my guess.

I know the A321 ACF (Aibus Cabin Flex) has door 2 deleted, and Door 3 can be deactivated depending on layout. Is that what your seeing here?
Down with that sort of thing!

yes, both door 3 and door 2s got deactivated, while the 4 overwing exits remain. So pretty much an extra long a320

Door 2 is deleted, not deactivated as it no longer is even an option.

It's also worth noting that the 321neo over wing exits are slightly taller than the 320s. They are 737 style 'flip-up' exits, which are much simpler to operate and allow faster egress during an evacuation.

Is 195 seats the limit in the US as well? I think I remember hearing 189 was the limit on the 739ER though that may be different. Curious to see if AA/B6/DL take the 321 with the door plugged.
