Wow! That's quite ambitious of Emirates, I must say... never really thought that Islamabad would get put on the list of A380-served cities, but nonetheless, that's great news...

Honestly think it pointless! Pakistan not that type of market honestly, I guess for Hajj/Umrah charters it fine. Though not much Premium demand or only economy get packed, then again EK and the rest of the regional carriers have several flights day. So maybe half of the flights are fully packed in economy. Every time I flew to PK the front cabin is empty. Islamabad might, be able to fill the front cabin due to being the capital, and all. That's probably just on the 777, not a A380.

I would honestly be more excited to hear about a European airlines like BA or LH returning to PK, or a Asian carrier like CX, AI, MH, or etc expanding into Pakistan.

I believe it is for this reason they are using a two-class config.

EK is probably trying to up their game out of ISB to deter a EU carrier from entering. After all, for EU carriers its all about premium pax. Honestly I don't know why people like the A380 (unless their is some special premium class feature). It is just too big with too long lines.

I was under the impression EK does not have permission to expand further in ISB and LHE? If that's the case, aircraft upgrades is the only way for them to grow in these destinations.

Could be but I think both EK and ISB realized it was only going to be a matter of time before ISB got the EK A380 which is why they built 2 gates specifically for it. I'm almost certain this would've happened regardless of EU carriers. The only reason its happening now is because the new airport just opened last month, so EK wanted to spend a few weeks getting familiar with the new airport ops, but once they did, they pretty much immediately upgauged it as I'm sure this route was on their radar for some time as a high volume trunk route which they would've upgraded earlier had the old airport been able to.

EK and EY have sought additional frequencies to Islamabad and Lahore, about four each.

Permission to allow A380 put on hold till new govt takes over, they will decide whether to grant once weekly or four or deny.

I have many times - there are just too many people. I have always been in J or F. F was great (but I never fly paid F only on awards). In J, again way too much people. Can't even imagine coach. Boarding, even with status and being in J, was crazy. Again don't get why people like it.

With three airbridges who notices the people? It's faster getting on and off an A380 than many other jets. Particularly when you are in business. Cabin comfort unbeatable. Quiet too. I've come to love it and it's my preferred means of air travel by a country mile - next up would be A350 then 787. 777 is in a different class altogether.

Huh... Your is actually the first negative review I've read on the upper deck of the A380.

May I ask if you load at airports that have the 2nd floor loading J/F? I assume no since it is that crowded. Then again, the A380 upper deck loads as many premium passengers as some narrowbodies and certainly more than an E-175/CRJ (at least per US scope clauses).

Lightsaber

I guess this is another one of those short hauls where the A380 is being put to use. Nice that Islamabad is the only city in Pakistan to get it.

How many 615-seat two-class A380 are EK planning to have in their fleet? They have around ten now, I think.
