Tue Jul 03, 2018 12:37 am

Anyone know the status of this aircraft ? The program was cancelled 6-7 months ago.

I was hoping for a reply. The reality is the 6X must be structurally reinforced as well as stretched.

I see no way to salvage or sell the airframe. So curiosity, what happened to it? It wouldn't be worth flying anymore except to test software or other control systems for the 6X.

May become a test bed

Falcon had another biz jet in development in the 70’s I think that was cancelled, I can’t remember the model number

I am pretty sure one of the past few months editions of Airliner World had an article on it, I only overflew it but it was quite detailed, explaining the whole engine saga and decision process.

After a little research I found what I was looking for

Dassault developed the ‘Falcon 30/40’ also known as a Mystère (they have the best names) it flew in 1973 and could carry up to 40 passengers

The idea was to market it as a short range corporate shuttle, it could seat four abreast and was the first ‘wide body’ of a sort biz jet until the Canadair Challenger came along

It was a nice looking aircraft that found no takers and was cancelled.
In fact Dassault were ahead of their time, a couple of decades later the concept would reappear with the now common regional jets

Worth a Google

I always called this aircraft (Falcon 30) the DRJ for (Dassault Regional Jet) to myself. It does have a kinda neat ring to it.

Good description, it certainly was better looking than most RJ’s excepting the handsome C Series
