Speculation: Farnborough 2018 Launch of CSeries Large Regional Family

Thu Jul 05, 2018 1:01 pm

I think with the program take-over formalized, Airbus will not hold back on launching the program in two weeks, at Farnborough.

The series name is still unknown, maybe A200 family?

They will probaby repaint 1 or 2 CSeries in Airbus corporate livery and have them at the show.

A few new customers would be nice?

Family? They already said first they integrate, expand the line to Mobile and bring up their rates. There are no current plans for some CS500.

How can they launch a program / family that already exist?

I think you mean that they will launch a renewed sales campaign with a couple of orders, but that's something different then how formulate it.

Ps,
I think they should rename the 2 versions C300 for the CS300 and C310 for the CS100, keeping it historically correct with the A300 and A310 models from the early days of Airbus but still giving it a distinction from the A models.

I think they should leave it alone, for operators a rename is going to be costly and a hassle because that means updating a bunch of engineering etc documents with the new name. Also C300 and C310 sound like some outdated plane from the 1980's.

Why not re-use the A310 name? Call them the A310-800 and A310-900 respectively. The family could be called A310X or A310C.

I suggest they can use the new designation for marketing only, and leave the engineering docs alone.

As these are being purchased by corporations vs individuals, does the name really matter all that much?

Yes! Branding still plays an important role in business-to-business sales. Your purchasing stakeholders are still people and brands help shape their thinking and perceptions of your product lines.

Marketing name only, in all engineering documents, both aircraft will still be named BD500-1A10 and BD500-1A11

If you want the "mods" to do something, you have to report the post in question.

It's all speculation on your part I'm afraid...
God, I am hoping as much as you are my friend... it would be awesome.. but for the moment, let's just stick to the bare facts...
The A200 (A200/210?) name sounds just about right. Wish we could see a long(er)-range variant with a longer fuselage...a CS500ish of sorts..(or an A220 at that??) that could fit in nicely just below the A320 for long, thin routes....
Ok, let's keep on dreaming here!

The title has been changed. As hOMSaR has said please report the post so we are aware of it, we do not read every post in every topic nor are we mind readers and this is the easiest way to bring it to our attention

Leeham already confirmed that a rebranding is underway.

https://leehamnews.com/2018/07/02/ponti ... fuel-burn/
Airbus is expected to announce a rebranding of the C Series at its July 10 pre-Farnborough Air Show media briefing. An aircraft is in the process of being repainted in Airbus colors for display at the event.

Bloomberg reported in April new names were to be assigned to the CS100 and CS300, probably the A210 and A230 respectively.

So in other words, nothing new here.

I find it interesting that this topic comes up the same day as Boeing announces their 80% stake in Embraer. I wonder how rebranding for the CSeries and Embraer Ejet family will go.

Second CS300 prototype C-FFDO (55002) is in the paint shop at East Midlands Airport in the UK, a mere 20-30 minutes flying time from Farnborough. Hmmm ;-)

Perhaps the same way Boeing lauched the 717 . . .

Of course one can debate to death to what extent the MD-95 already existed at the time . . .

Mods, can you take off "Speculation" part in the tittle. The CEO announces it in the Reuters link. The rebrand is announced in the Leeham link. It is kind dismissing the opening post. Unjustified. Thnx

I think A315 and A316 have a nice ring to it, with A317 for a possible CS500. A2xx just sounds weird compared to A3xx.

BTW Keesje, what's with the flies in your photos?

The article does not suggest a "launch" of the "CSeries Large Regional Family" at Farnborough.

This is as close as the article gets: "Asked later about CSeries orders, Enders told reporters there might be something to see in time for the industry’s flagship event, the Farnborough Air Show, which begins on July 16."

Key phrase: "there might be something to see" in time for Farnborough.

The article further states: "He did not elaborate on whether this meant new firm orders for the 110- to 130-seat planes."

This is not a launch of a program. In fact, they don't even know if its just new orders.
