Interesting. Thank you. I enjoyed watching it. Does that mean that at this point there are no more propeller aircraft at American Eagle? I have never been on a Dash-8 but I'm sure it was a nice airplane to fly on.

Great video .. just doesn't seem like it could have been 30+ years ago … I remember clearly when they first started flying them !

The Dash 8s certainly got the job done. Not a fan of the Q400s, though …

Fantastic video thanks for sharing, the Dash 8s have always had a special place in my heart. Even though I had only flown two C5 Birds, N368PH, and N362PH

That was pretty neat.

But I must be the only one who thought the Shorts 330 was a gorgeous plane.

If you need a dose of Dash, head north. We won't be done with them for a few decades.

Not only on American Eagle, but also on United Express and Delta Connection. End of an era.

I have about a dozen Dash 8s a day flying over my house headed for Medford, Eugene and Santa Rosa. They still have a big presence at PDX on Alaska/Horizon and Air Canada Jazz.

Despite the sometimes lousy AC on a summer day in the DH8-100s, it was a tank and enjoyable ride for sure. I flew the US "dumping" route of PHL-LGA so often on the DH8.

That is correct. I read an article on it this past week, surprised it hasnt been posted here. No more prop ops at any of the Big 3 airlines. I think they said only Alaska and Hawaiian have prop ops now.

Wow what a well done video. I’m so glad they took the time to honor the aircraft that gave the airline so much. Props to them...no pun intended!

Delta Connection: Mesaba retired the Saab in 2011/2012ish
United Express: CommutAir retired their last Dash in January

Correct for the 50 U.S. states, but weren't Cape Air's ATR-42 operations in GUM the last turboprop services in UA colors this spring?

If you like constant vibration, loud droning noise, slow speeds and unable to fly above bad weather then the Dash is your plane. Almost all of my cancelled, delayed or weight restricted flights were the Dash's. They were good in their days but the time for them to be parked was long overdue. Flew PHL-ROA on a Dash and several months later on a CRJ-200, no comparison, smoother. quieter and faster.

Thank you for sharing this! The Dash 8 is definitely not built for comfort, but I've always felt safe on it. Be it flying out of YSB in -35C, or the aircraft carrier style landing at YTZ, the Dash-8 is a great aircraft.

I've been riding the DHC-8-100 for years from Val d'Or. Whatever the snow fall, it was rarely diverted.

Great video! I always enjoyed my DASH-8 flights, and this video showed how much the crews enjoyed it too! I've had many great flights on board this aircraft, and will miss it greatly. Luckily I still have Silver flying here in TPA with the Saabs, and (hopefully soon) the ATRs, to keep my love of turboprops alive LOL!

Fantastic little film for a great little plane and a great little airline. I'm really glad Piedmont made this.

Growing up, the Dash 8 was by far my favorite aircraft to fly on. It looked cool (especially in US Airways Express colors), it felt safe and reliable, and 'till this day, there is no engine sound I enjoyed more during startup and taxi than the Dash 8's. During the early and mid 2000s, I was saddened to see airlines phase out their turboprop fleets in favor of smaller regional jets, but the Dash 8 seemed to prove its worth hand over fist and didn't stop flying until this month in 2018! (For airlines in the U.S., at least).

Some of my fondest memories as a kid involved the Dash 8. Whether it was flying into BGM to see my grandma, ORF for a family visit, or through TLH or JAX as a creative way to get a family a 4 back to TPA as non-revs, I enjoyed every flight I had on the DH8-100, DH8-200, and DH8-300. It did it's job exceptionally for the airlines, passengers, and communities it served, and I will miss seeing and, especially, hearing it in the skies.

I think my last Dash 8 flight was a Horizon BOI-PIH-BOI trip to drop off a coworkers sis there. 25 minutes in Pocatello, ID more than enough lol.
Many Q400s since and still -8s available in AK on Ravn.
Riddle: Which lasts longer, a start-up airline or a start-up football league?
