I listened to DELTAs Q2 webcast this morning and heard Mr.Bastian say they were to receive 80 Aircraft in 2019. Does anyone have a breakdown on types, and how many of each

The 2017 annual report, published February 23, 2018, showed this count of 77 as purchase commitments in effect 12/31/17:

32 A321s
2 359s
18 739s (finishing the open order)
25 C 100s

That same report showed 15 CS100s arriving in 2018.

I seem to remember that 3 330neos were coming ,in 2019.
Anyway that is a lot of planes in a years time.

Incredible indeed. Delta has taken delivery of 7 A321s just in the last 30 days alone!

That purchase commitment table shows no A339s in 2019, and four in 2020. Maybe Bastian was doing a little mental rounding when he said 80. Maybe they're going to catch up on a few of the CS100s not delivered in 2018.

As they take delivery of the A321 are they retiring B757 at the same time?

757 retirement has slowed down/stopped for now. Currently, MD-88s and MD-90s are leaving the fleet in great numbers. N918DL and N965DN were both retired this week alone.

Two A321s were delivered yesterday from Mobile and Hamburg.

They retired 7 A320s last year but it's been a while. Maybe somebody knows the target count and timing for 2018?

No 320 or 757 are scheduled for retirement in the near term. DL had intended on retiring NW’s early A320 (42 of 50 remained) and PMDL B757 delivered prior to the mid-1990s, but opted to keep the 320 and B757 delivered from 1992 (and install new interiors) and retire the MD-88 and MD-90 instead. (Last year, DL decided to keep an additional 7 B757 delivered in 1991 and retire the same number of 320, but the remainder of the 320/757 have been renovated).

Purchase commitment table is not accurate. First 330NEO will arrive in less than 9 months.

I realize that it’s not a 1:1 replacement, but that seems like it will introduce A decent amount of additional capacity into the system.or am I wrong?

A total of 26 between -88s and -90s.

Yes. The mainline aircraft on order is enough to account for 3-4% capacity growth while retiring all of the 757, in addition to MD-88/90. That’s not to say DL will phase out the 757 — most likely, it’ll be a mixture of aircraft — just that DL’s further ahead in its fleet renewal that most users think.

The Mad Dogs are leaving quickly. Even though they are a pain to work below wing, I will miss them. Here is a shot I took from my first 88 it's ship 904 back in early 88. And here she is recently when I happened to look up I remembered I have this very shot.

How many MD's are expected to be parked at the end of summer?

I'm all for hanging on to those 757's longer, such a beautiful bird, joy to fly on, from brand new to 30 years, no difference to me. DL has done an amazing job updating interiors on them, so it's like having a brand new 757 anyway. Same with my recent A320 flights. I never thought I'd say this but I even was ok with a 2 hour flight on an MD90 recently, you all know I can't stand not having AVOD but it was comfortable and did not show it's age. DL studio worked well, but they need to go, after the MD-88's of course. Nothing has been invested in them, they are just the black sheep from a customer perspective right now, and the passengers who book DL and get stuck on just them, which are many thru ATL are not getting a proper experience/opinion of where DL is right now.

Seriously can't wait for more A359 (hoping for a surprise A35K order at the show) and the A339/CS100 exciting times
