Avianca repaints?

Fri Jul 13, 2018 8:05 pm

An Avianca (TACA) E190 is on the front page of the site as I write this. I clicked into the enlarged photo and then clicked into other aircraft flying for the same airline.

I was surprised to see 2018-dated photos of TACA-liveried aircraft, 5 years after their merger.

That got me wondering: how many aircraft in the family of airlines making up Avianca are still flying around in the old name's livery?

Are there Macair-liveried planes in Argentina? LACSA in Costa Rica? AeroGal in Ecuador? How many TACA in El Salvador? Aviateca in Guatemala? La Costeña in Nicaragua? Isleña Airlines in Honduras? TransAm in Peru? SANSA in Costa Rica?

If I'm correct, all ATRs from the regional carriers were painted in Avianca's livery, except the La Costeña which stayed in their standard blue version of TACA's red livery. Macair only has brand new ATRs with Avianca's livery.

All 7 E190s from TACA El Salvador and LACSA are wearing the TACA red livery, non has been painted to Avianca colours. Don't know if they ever will.

TACA El Salvador still has one A319 (N478TA) in the old blue livery. Aerogal seems to have one A319 in Avianca's old livery (HC-CSB).

TACA El Salvador still has one A320 (N687TA) in TACA's livery and one (N684TA) in a hybrid Avianca/TACA livery. Aerogal has three (HC-CSF, HC-CTX and HC-CTR) in Avianca's old livery

SANSA has their own livery. Strangely enough, TACA abandoned Aeroperlas ATRs in Panama City and can still be seen at the airport.

No, the first E190 to be painted into Avianca colours has just rolled out of the paintshop in GUA. The others will follow soon.

Well that sure is interesting:

Thanks tommyarias and mabadia71!

This makes some of the U.S. fleet repaints look downright speedy!

TransAm in Peru?

Even though the legal name is Trans American Airlines, the aircraft wore TACA Peru branding from day one.

I saw N687TA today and was about to post a thread like this myself because Avianca currently has mainline aircraft flying around in four different liveries with two different names on the planes.
