AA67 BCN-JFK diverting LHR now!

Wed Jul 25, 2018 10:49 am

Just flown over my house on S coast UK - quite speedily too. Am sure all will be revealed. Long way to divert? Suppose better options out of LHR to re-accommodate pax.

Aircraft is B772 (N756AM).

The flight was still over Spain when it decided to divert - considering MAD would've been a 40-minute flight and BCN a 1-hour flight, I wonder why the captain would divert to LHR (2-hour away, and over water)?

Simple support and ability to burn off fuel.

If it ain’t life threatening however might impact on ETOPS Heathrow seems reasonably logical for American .

Well she still seems to be on the ground - so a good few hours now. Assume not medical.

Diverted due to an issue with the lavatories. Seems like it was serious enough for the crew to declare Pan Pan.

Declaring a Pan-Pan for lavatory issues? Unless you have a passenger(s) who is becoming unruly/irate and acting unlawfully, declaring Pan-Pan is completely excessive.
If you flew today, thank a Flight Dispatcher!

I have to assume that there was something else or something more that seemed urgent. Pilots dont declare Pan Pan for fun.
