Expect Aer Lingus to announce new North American routes from Dublin soon.

DL used to fly ATL-HAM.
I'm surprised at no BA PDX-LHR.

How about WOW starting ORF-KEF? Well within range for the A320Neo.
KICT wrote:No doubt; I just think that a metro area like ORF (which is larger than Las Vegas, population-wise) could support a less-than-daily A320NEO flight to Europe.

Why the former? BA already serves LHR from PHX. I’d be trying to get another euro destination if I were PHX.

Would not surprise me if UA announced seasonal EWR-PRG or EWR-BUD, or both, to serve the popular river boat cruise market. The issue here will be availability of aircraft, though they could move a few more 777-200 (non ER's) around to serve high density, high volume routes out of EWR, like they have done with MAD, DUB, and BCN this summer. It's possible EWR-OSL could also return. Hypothetical, of course.

I very much doubt it. Atlanta may be a big airport, but as a city it doesn't mean much. It doesn't attract tourists from Europe. The reason people fly to Atlanta is to transfer, but Norwegian doesn't have a feeder at Atlanta. That makes it a dead end, the flights would rely on O/D traffic only. And there isn't much of that.
Same goes more or less for Aer Lingus. True, they're in a joint venture with American Airlines but they're not big in Atlanta either. Any destination American serves from Atlanta can also be reached through other hubs and some even non-stop. I don't see any reason for them to fly there.

I wonder if the Polaris retrofit will be sufficiently far enough along to free up an extra bird or two. Way back when, CO had a codeshare with CSA on EWR-PRG, as well. If they wanted to move another few markets over to the domestic 777 fleet from EWR, my guess would be EWR-LIS/VCE/FCO. They could also try putting those domestic 777s on IAD-MAD/FCO or something. I'll predict the following for United: +EWR-BUD/PRG (767s), +EWR-NCE/BHX (752), +IAD-KEF (737), +ORD-MAN (752) and +ORD-BCN (767).
American's also publicly kicking around adding Malaga and has been talking about how happy they are with Eastern Europe, so maybe also plus something like a Dubrovnik or a Warsaw.
As for Delta, they've announced they're going to do India again, and next summer is as logical a time to start that as any. I'll guess thet they'll give JFK-OTP a try as a summer seasonal.

KL fully takes over one of the DL MSP/DTW-AMS frequencies, likely at MSP.
And unfortunately, one of these recent TATL adds also gets dropped for 2019:
DL PIT-CDG, BA RDU-LHR, DL MSP-KEF, WW CLE-KEF

Do you mean AA RDU-LHR? I doubt that gets cut (right now), but I am surprised BA hasn’t taken over the route from AA. The plane AA is using is too much capacity IMO.
I would add DL AUS-AMS to your list of adds as well.

I think you mean *AA* RDU-LHR. I would love to see them cut that...so DL can pick it up!
In all seriousness, I'd be surprised to see AA quit a route it's been flying for 25 years. It would immediately be picked up by the competition. Only way I see them dropping it is if BA takes over the route from AA.
olddominion727 wrote:Maybe AF CDG-SJC? AA used to fly it. t would be a perfect route for a 788. DL has some support for it on the SJC side with ns flights to SEA, LAX, LAS, SLC, JFK, ATL
ADrum23 wrote:Which I don’t understand why BA hasn’t taken over RDU-LHR. It makes more sense for BA to operate it so AA doesn’t have to keep a crew base in RDU. Plus, having BA take over would allow them to shift the flight to T5, making it easier for connections.

I think Delta flew JFK-OTP for a year (maybe 2009) in summer only. I don't think UA will restart EWR-BHX. Brexit has pretty much ruled out much more than adding capacity to LHR/LGW. UA has cut a lot of non-LHR services to the UK since the merger. NCE would be a good, seasonal add.
