What do you guys think of ARN’s possibilities for 2019? Any chance for AC or Rouge, YYZ-ARN? Or UA SFO-ARN?

I am hoping for the return of ATL - VIE.

Will OS announce a new North American destination since they are ending MIA service from VIE?

I hope also the return of UA EWR-OPO but with another bigger aircraft (B767) and year-round and possibly the beginning of IAD-OPO.
And the beginning of JFK-OPO and/or ATL-OPO in DL (after PDL have it).
AA could do PHL-OPO also.
LIS could be on UA have DEN-LIS, SFO-LIS (concorrence for TP) and others...
DL could start SEA-LIS or SLC-LIS.
AA could start LAX-LIS.
Some routes are interesting others no, its my opinion.
Portuguese market for americans is growing and growing, so some routes are good others only seasonal...
And the rouge operation come back in both airports, and it will be very welcomed Air Canada main...

With VS' retreat from their third daily LAXLHR, I wouldn't be too shocked to see DL metal back on LAXLHR with a much better offering than the 767 than they previously offered. Could also see LAXCDG and LAXAMS go daily as opposed to having alternating days.

Most of those routes are not even feasible, DEN/LAX/SEA/SLC etc are not going to happen.

Same. With SFO added by TP, my fingers are crossed ORD is next, even seasonally.

I'm curious about this.

I'm surprised nobody is talking about Milan. Lots of potential there. ORD is one option seasonally, same with ORD-ATH.

Hope to see BOS pick up MXP, BRU, VIE or ATH. OS VIE-BOS could work on a 76W. Maybe Air Italy with a 787 on MXP-BOS?

Air Italy will start a few new routes out of MXP in 2019.

Definitely LAX. Probably YYZ. Possibly other US destinations (BOS? ORD? SFO?).

That is one I would really like to see, though I don't know if YYZ-ARN would be best served with a Rouge 767 or eventually a mainline A321neoLR if the rumor holds true. (Which would mean it might not open just yet). There should however be some spare Rouge 767 capacity as Hawaii transitions to all mainline over the winter.

YYZ in general, BEG is the biggest likelihood, realistically its just about certain. I would love to see a return to HAM, it was the Anna Aero route of the week a few weeks back, and could very easily support at least 3x weekly. Sticking to Germany, a return to DUS as well would make a lot of sense. AC and LH run with huge load factors at YYZ, especially FRA where I have routinely seen all 3 dailies go ~98% or greater LF, and though I don't have the exact numbers for Condor, checking on their website, booking a few weeks in advance, both J and Y are generally very full, and that flight operates 5x weekly. Considering normal growth levels, they are going to have a progressively harder time connecting pax as O/D fills the plane.

VS have previously announced a 20% increase in TATL seat capacity from MAN.

https://www.ttgmedia.com/news/virgin-at ... sion-14338

S19 will see 6 based aircraft (4xB744; 2 x A332).

Routes: new MAN-LAX, 3x weekly on A332, BOS increased to 3x weekly, LAS increased to 4x weekly, MCO 12x weekly, BGI 2x weekly.

However, SFO is dropped. ATL and JFK remain daily but on the B744 (previously A330).

In addition to this, SQ have applied for SIN-MAN-IAH at 6x weekly (currently 5x weekly) and UA have applied to use the B763 on EWR-MAN. Neither of these have been confirmed.

TCX remains a puzzle. They are rumoured to be looking at a number of new US ports including Baltimore and New Orleans. Whether these come to pass (and if so in what form) remains to be seen. There is evidence to suggest they are cutting LAX in S19. None of this is confirmed.

To be honest, it was a bit of a surprise to many of us, though it's still too early to see if it will start in 2019 or 2020... or I suppose even at all.

I am a doctor and one of my patients works in South Florida aviation (all I feel comfortable saying), so I'm a step away from any actual information, please know! However, the press conference for the MIA-KBP route in February was reported in the press, so there's something to that. Maybe u/Miami may have some better information for your question?

Probably not, Cork has proven to be too small for TATL routes. Also it doesn't attract feeder passengers from the rest of Europe, they're using Dublin instead.

Atlantic City might be on the radar from Dublin. Well within reach and it does have enough demand for a few weekly flights on a 737.

During the summer anything works, however it's unsustainable in the winter. Demand is just too low.

I actually meant the 737 MAX Transatlantic Operation as a whole. I wasn't targeting just one route. I was hoping to see interesting routes that Kjos mentioned in the past such as BIO-PVD etc.. not sure they would all work of course.

As a whole, I think they work. They need some finetuning of course, not every route will work, but the fact that Dublin - Stewart has gone double daily shows that there is a demand. And that's with Dublin as an end station as it lacks feeder flights further into Europe except for self-transfers. Imagine if they'd build a feeder network out of Dublin, that would allow them to send a 787 into Stewart instead of a 737.

I wonder if we could see VS trialling the likes of NCL and BHX to MCO.
When you hear the noise of the Tartan Army Boys, we'll be coming down the road!

Mentioned in this article that Primera Air are possibly looking at an airport to the west for transatlantic flights. Cardiff? Or Bristol? Though 'to the west' could mean Dublin! Lol

If they're really targeting Dublin they'll become a real competitor to Norwegian and it remains to be seen who'll win that battle. The fact that Ireland doesn't have APD could be an advantage as this guarantees a lower ticket price. But Primera is in a vulnerable position as well as it has a preference for larger, expensive airports. While this adds to convenience, it is easy to undercut the costs by flying into secondary airports like Norwegian does. Therefor the Norwegian flights might be less convenient, but they will be cheaper.

Hi Dobbo - what evidence? Can you share?

MAN - LAX is loaded and for sale from end of June next year.

Hi Internaute

You are quite right - as things stand it is on sale and GDS.

What they have done is shorten the season (from early May to late June start) and a frequency reduction from 3x weekly to 2x weekly.

The evidence was a delay in loading, removal of one weekly flight and all flights being pushed back to the later start time (as you probably know these actions usually mean bad news is incoming).

Hope this helps!

Here is what I could see for ORD.
TAP to LIS
Air Italy to MXP
Air Serbia to BEG
American to PRG and/or ATH
Possibly some Norwegian adds.
EI or AA to SNN
Living in LA, ORD/MDW will always be home!

Lots of people in the AA thread seem to think this will finally be the year for PHX-LHR... Also sounds like some Eastern Europe build up out of PHL is on the horizon.

From PHL, anyone see the possibility of AA adding Duseldorf or Berlin, or perhaps Vienna? It doesn't look like any of these markets are served from PHL. Then again, I am using Wiki as the source here...

I would LOVE to have a DUS-PHL non-stop!! Heck, I'd be happy if DL/AF returned to PHL.

The JFK-TXL flight numbers seem to be changing from 422/222 to 92/93 next year. Could this mean they switch the flight to yearround from 2019/2020?

That would be an interesting route. Once Delta served Istanbul from JFK, they canceled that flight already years ago. I think it was a summer seasonal in the last years. I think there was CO or UA service to IST a few years ago which didnt last long as well?

Well, UA serves IST through TK. AA used to Codeshare with THY before they joined Star. There are no US Airlines left at IST for years, I think THY is just too strong.

Could they be dropping the frequency to start a new route? They are quite short on A330’s. The route is usually pretty full apparently, and does well on cargo so fingers crossed it stays.
