With it is geographical situation, Algiers is more "natural" Europe/West, South Africa Hub than CMN
In the seventies, Algiers was linked to many west-African cities and had even traffic rights between many African countries
The demand from Algiers is important to some Arabic or French speaking cities like NKC, BKO, NIM and OUA. Business is also increasing with DKR and ABJ. Next AH routes will be LBV and DLA. Of course putting in place a competitive Hub means opening new routes to Africa / increase frequency and adapt flight timing to attract transfer passengers
I understand that it's geographical location is quite good but it's not like their competitors will sit idly by. They will also have to compete with European carriers as well as Turkish Airlines. Not to mention that the market in many of these African markets might not be large enough for all those players...yet.
