That doesn't even match DL's established frequency on LAX-MSY. I don't see how this is putting DL 'on its heals.'

A lot of that stuff is OO at risk. Is OO cutting the 50 seater at risk fleet?

Disappointing as a frequent traveller on this route - but the downgaging of pretty much everything CAK on DL ( ATL went from all mainline in the spring to CR9s now ), combined with DL following the other carriers trend of adding/upgaging CLE and the reduction of CR2 operations made this move not all that surprising. I'd also imagine the DL redcoats there will be or have been re-assigned as well.
This route has been around since the NW days, looking at departedflights.com I'm thinking at least since the mid 1980s.

I think that is the direction and what I said would happen would the merger took place. Better to be king of PHL than a peasant at JFK. I do think they will leave a token presence to feed OW carriers.

There is no way they would have enough data to cut already, and its pretty far away at this point. Lots of ski traffic etc at that time, i dont think its demand more SLC construction scheduling. That flight has few people booked at this point since its new, easiest to rebook the low numbers on. Its so new it just the most convenient to rebook and reschedule the people on.

Well that explains an odd routing when Contour/LF swapped the E135 that's been doing the OAK-CEC route for a few months now. N16502 routed CEC-IGM-PGA-PHX-MQY (div to JWN) returning to base at Smyrna. Must have done a road-show visit or proving run for PGA. The OAK-CEC aircraft now is N11526, which was doing MCN-BWI, having routed out west MCN-ABQ-CEC to pick up the rotation. (ABQ is not exactly a straight line routing, so I don't know that reason.)
Is this a short-term PGA-PHX subsidized fill-in, since the frequency drops down in November?

I doubt that. Most likely, a seasonal reduction during the slowest travel period of the year. CLE is a long, thin route and it isn’t like it generates a lot of traffic to the Elkos or Redmonds of the world. With the price of fuel swelling, overflying DTW and MSP makes less sense. Long term, if fuel remains where it is, I’d expect DL to peel back the secondary, long, thin markets it’s recently added to SLC, especially outside the summer months.

I assume because it looks like they are trying to feed traffic through DFW and thus pull down the “hub” at JFK?
