From internal website, PHL routes served with 767’s except EDI which is 757. ORD-PVG is cut as well as JFK-DUB shifting to DFW. Massive announcement.

ORD-PVG gone, and ORD-NRT reduced to 3w. I can't believe ORD-Asia is really that bad, but fares are in the toilet and AA isn't about to give up on LAX.

I had read Dubrovnik was negotiating flights with the US but that is really shocking nonetheless. In any case, Iberia is up to three daily in summer in MAD-DBV and many passengers connect to the US, so they know the numbers.

So for S19 DBV will have flights with Philadelphia, Dubai or (2 daily) Istanbul. A truly global destination of only 40,000 full-time residents. It must command high-fares nonetheless if only looking at the atrocious prices that Dubrovnik hotels charge in summer.

Looks like JL will go to almost 2x in summer to fill the gap.

Can someone please change the thread title? I saw it and ad to look up "BLG" - only to find that it's the code for Belaga, an airport in the jungle of Borneo with a 430m long runway. Probably not what AA will serve from PHL (maybe from LAX?).

Really amazing! Went several years ago and there was not many good Oneworld options back to the US.

PHL has really become quite a TATL, albeit heavily skewed towards AA

ORDNRT will be 3x per week, but as it says, will go back to daily in the summer time.

I took that MAD-DBV flight home a couple years ago then on to AA through PHL so it kind of makes sense. But still surprising to see DBV with a transatlantic flight. BLQ is also surprising but I guess that can help serve tourists to Florence.

Cutting PHL to FRA makes sense but the cut to MUC is quite surprising...especially now with two carriers on CLT-MUC

Wow. I suspect AA wants to run LH out of CLT. But now only a seasonal 4x weekly AA on PHL-Germany, which only helps LH in PHL.

Somewhat awesome news on CLT-MUC!! Very skeptical on how this will impact LH. I like to believe LH is established enough in CLT that they’ll be able to sustain the service.

Makes me wonder if AA is now just throwing darts to create TATL presence. It's unfortunate to see them continue to dismantle the JFK presence.

Nice to see AA beating UA to the punch on ORD-ATH, and being the first airline to offer US service from BLQ and DBV. AA's seasonal Europe network from PHL is starting to become quite impressive, with ATH, BCN, TXL, BLQ, BUD, DBV, EDI, LIS, PRG, SNN, and VCE for S19.

Well, there now is service to TXL...

LH is quite strong on the PHL-FRA market with tons of corporate traffic. SAP alone has among the highest volume between the Northeast and Germany

There's going to be a lot more than two routes dropped. They aren't taking the fleet deliveries to support that, nor would Wall Street like that much growth. I wonder what else is getting axed?

Finally a nonstop ORD-ATH! It should do well as a seasonal service.

I find it interesting that AA is cancelling LAX-YYZ. It was my understanding that this was actually a pretty strong entertainment industry route for them.

They continue with the old US Airways summer tourist business. They know how to do it and it makes a good profit. They even expanded it to ORD-BCN and ORD-VCE IIRC which are a telltale success of that business. AFAIK

Yes, I made that update. I suspect we could see LH upgauge.

Marginal capacity increase at PHL.

I also think we'll see the 788 on PHL-ATH, VCE in 2020 when the 787's come to PHL.

Great news for Berlin and although yields are probably still pretty bad, Berlin desperately needs more TATL capacity. Still, a pity they didnt include HAM as well.

CLT-MUC is interesting, let's see whether they talked to BMW because otherwise both DFW and CLT might be overkill.

Fares to Cancun are more than that. When that happens, it's not surprising to see that long haul, aircraft and crew intensive routes will be axed.

It's a business market and they have plenty of feed, plus overall capacity to China is limited. Still shocked there isn't the demand.
