LATAM to invest $400m in new interiors for A32S, 767, 787 and keep 777’s

Tue Aug 21, 2018 3:09 pm

Latam has announced today that the A320 series fleet (excluding A319's) will receive new interiors that match the new deliveries. Also the 767’s and 777’s will receive new interiors, while 787’s will have their cabins recovered. They have confirmed they will keep 9 777-300’s.

Good to see LATAM improving their product further - it's a pleasure to fly with them.

I guess this also means we will finally see some 777s in the new LATAM color scheme (currently they're all still wearing the old TAM scheme). On the one hand, the new LATAM scheme is very crisp and modern, but on the other it will be a shame to see the back of those beautiful red 777s. Spot them while you can!

What does all this matter if they keep the same horses as FA?
I mean, in the Brazilian division TAM.

Only 10 763's are getting the updates - 7 are being retired over next year. Does anyone know which ones?

Looks like one less 767 pax operator by 2023 - and theirs are some of the newest :crying:
Stuck at age 15 thanks to the certification date of the A320-200 and my parents' decision to postpone having a kid by 3 years. At least there's Dignitas...

Intl FA for JJ is either hit or miss. In my opinion they make or break the experience of a flight.
I've had some incredible treatment (much better the asian robots), while many times they couldn't look us in the eyes . It doesn't really matter if flying C or Y.

Hopefully PT-MOG is among those retired soon...the oddball of JJ's fleet.

In my experience they (FAs) are usually regular to good on JJ planes. On the few flights I've been with 4M (Argentina), they were mostly bad...

According to thedesignnair the new interiors are also for the A350s. Plus the promotional pictures show an A350 cabin.

Nope, the existing and to-be-delivered A350-900 fleet not listed to have the new cabin, as with the existing B787, although New deliveries will. New J cabin for to-be -delivered A350-1000 fleet. Perhaps they will announce a retrofit for these frames in the future?

They probably will, but like UA and their 787s they'll wait until the rest of the fleet is done, since these aircraft (and seats) are quite new.

Does LATAM operate any aircraft that were once VARIG? Or are all RG aircraft gone?
I “like” the LATAM livery, I loathe the TAM livery, that said, I miss Brazil having a flag carrier- unless Azul will one day become that.

Former Varig aircraft were the temporary MD-11s, which were returned once the 77Ws started to arrive.
Currently no former RG aircraft in their fleet.

Does anyone have more info about the business class retrofit?
Latam Peru was supposed to have the first refurbished aircraft by end of (this) year...
