US3 hub number of gates?

Wed Aug 22, 2018 12:23 am

I am looking for a list of how many gates DL, UA and AA control at their respective hubs (both mainline and regional), broken down by hub, for example

UA

ORD: 50 gates
IAH: 45

DL

ATL: 143
DTW: 60

AA

DFW: 105
CLT: 87

(I know the above numbers aren’t right, but that is the format I was seeking)

If someone could help here, that would be great

No way CLT has 87 gates.

B and C and D are 40 gates.

B, C, and D at Charlotte are 47 gates (with one gated shared with Lufthansa). Including the American Eagle flights out of Concourse E, AA controls 87 gates and stands.

Next year, they'll get four more in Concourse A.

Delta has 103 gates at DTW, but some are shared with AF and AM.

Please read the entire OP before commenting:

“For example,” does not imply AA is xx at CLT. Most people in this forum know UA has more than 50 gates at ORD.

The OP does not know. He/she wants to know:

AA:
CLT - xxx gates
DFW - xxx gates
MIA - xxx gates
ORD - xxx gates
Etc for PHL, PHX, etc.

DL:
ATL - xxx gates
DTW - xxx gates
MSP - xxx gates
SLC - xxx gates
Etc for LGA, JFK, SLC, etc.

UA:
DEN - xxx gates
EWR - xxx gates
IAH - xxx gates
ORD - xxx gates
Etc for IAD, SFO, etc.

Yes, this is what I was trying to get at. Sorry for being unclear, I was typing on my phone before.

For DL, ATL has 117 exclusive (or basically so for the 10 old AirTran gates on D South) gates T-D, with an additional 28 preferential-use (I believe they are preferential but could be wrong and they're common-use with priority to international flights) gates on E and 6 preferential-use gates on F. DL does use the other 6 common-use gates on F as well outside the afternoon international rush from other international airlines, e.g. TK, QR, LH, AF, BA, and KL all arriving/departing in the 14:00-21:00 window. VS generally uses the 6 DL gates but has also used the other 6 at peak times lately.

Unless the lease has changed significantly recently, all of E and most of D are actually common use.

Take this as unofficial because of all the sub-gates EWR has, but by my count UA has 78 at EWR:

62 at Terminal C
16 at Terminal A

This doesn't include Terminal B where some UA flights will go to - I don't know off-hand if UA has any dedicated gates in Terminal B.

UA at IAD has 77 gates +3 more if certain gates are used for regional jets for a total of 80 (more below).
Concourse A 31 (no physical jet-bridges and can only be used for CRJ7 aircraft and smaller)
Concourse C 22
Concourse D 24 + 3 more if used for regional jets instead of mainline
Gate D30 can either have one mainline or two regional aircraft. Gate D32 can have one mainline or three regional aircraft

UA at IAH has 51 mainline at Terminals C and E (some at D occasionally used for international arrivals) 46 at A and B for regional operations (some gates B north can handle mainline if needed) Total 97.

Your question and post were very clear. Someone didn't read it through, though.

At MSP, I believe Delta currently has 87 gates, but they've done some tinkering in the regional jet concourse so it's hard to know exactly how many gates they have down there are that are active.

The article I linked says that Delta has half the A gates while the other half are renovated, and then they’ll take the renovated half while the first half is renovated. After the whole renovation of A is complete, AA will get four gates and some will be common use.

In the linked article, it talks about how the vacated gates are getting renovated, mostly for Delta. Then when DL migrates to their new gates, former Delta gates will get renovated to AA & airport standard (2 will be common use). That whole process will take until late next year.
