Red Wings Tu-204 engine fire

Wed Aug 22, 2018 9:57 am

Engine fire during flight from Ufa to Sochi this August 22 nd 2018.
The plane landed safely but watching the video, I think they are lucky.

Rather lucky, especially as all attempts to extinguish it from the pointy end failed!

No evacuation?

It seems as if at least two passengers found it more important to film the burning engine....

That's now the world we live in unfortunately. One of these days someone will live stream a crash.

On the plus side, it may help future investigations.

Quite impressive video. They were lucky indeed. At the end of the clip, you can see right through the attachment of the engine. 22 minutes of fire is quite long.

Luckey no-one was seriously injured.
Many happy landings, greetings from The Netherlands!

I mean, might as well. You're going in anyway so it's about as effective as "thoughts and prayers".

Back on topic: this is quite a promotional video for the PS-90.

Good job by the airport fire crews. It looks like from the time the aircraft came to a stop (and you can see the flames start to visibly grow) it was only like 10 seconds till the foam started coming.
