Hi guys,

AirAsia flight FD528 from Phuket to Kunming today 22.08. and yesterday 21.08. was doing a 360 degrees circle while flying over Thailand (todays flight still in the air as of now, yesterdays flight can be seen in fr24 playback).

This was flown while at crusie level and round about half way from takeoff and landing, so in the middle of the flight.

Anyone here got any clue what could be the reason for it?

Thanks

Alex

Could be to wait if they had to be in a certain point at a certain time and were too early. Just a guess.

Looks like they needed to hold here and there to adjust to a very busy arrival schedule.

Look at all the Kunming arrivals right now, there is a very busy lineup of aircraft coming in, and the airport is experiencing significant arrival delays, so when they do get a window to land, everyone has to be lined up perfectly to make it as efficient as possible, so having aircraft hold here and there helps ATC sort them out.

Staggering traffic flow into the next sector? There may have been too much and needed to slow down the flow. I dunno, just guessing.
