MD-11 missed on weight, aerodynamics, and engine TSFC. All fixed, but a reason AA cancelled.

The issue with the ARJ-21 is that the problems persist. I'd love to know the real dispatch reliability numbers. Anything worse than 99% is bad, but the first year 98% isn't unusual. With over 2 years.. meh.

Genghis Khan Airlines has moved significantly closer to starting ARJ21 ops, as per CAAC's latest public notice today on Jan 4th aimed to elicit public feedback before issuing a business operation permit for public air transport to the proposed startup carrier in Inner Mongolia

The notice says that CAAC has permitted the airline to buy 3 ARJ21 jets from COMAC

Having registered with relevant int'l aviation organizations, Genghis Khan Airlines is going to have NMG for its three-letter code, 9D for two-letter code

The startup has now signed work contracts with 21 pilots, 10 maintenance staff, 12 flight attendants, 3 security staff, 4 dispatchers, 6 transport staff

Nice livery on the ARJ-21. Looks like a DC9-10 with a MD88 tail and CRJ engines. I hope 9D does well in thier niche, the ARJ can prove itself if its utilized correctly.

It is reported that 9D would take delivery of its 1st ARJ21 jet from COMAC on Feb 22nd next month, and launch ARJ21 inaugural flights in late Mar at the earliest



All sounds good so far for 9D. Maybe there are already many aviation geeks eager to experience its service as soon as possible

Nice, i hope the ARJ serves them well, i like seeing other aircraft manufactures getting into the market. The ARJ has had many delays but hopefully it can gain a good reputation now.

Dispatch reliability should be much better than we are seeing at EU. It quickly costs more for bad timeliness than fuel. DL has learned customers pay the most for on time arrival. Either the arj delivers better reliability or 9D is done.

Well, that all depends on who's backing 9D. If that's COMAC or the provincial or central government, the number of customers may not matter much.

That cockpit looks like a mash-up of Boeing (windows and switches), Bombardier (FMS), Antonov (screens), Embraer (pedestal and MCP) and M-D (yokes). Yeesh!

9D is reported to receive another two ARJ21s later this year, among an order of 25, entitled to the Chinese government's preferential treatment with no airport construction fees and fuel surcharges on its pax in a bid to boost the aircraft's appeal to the flying public.
