Help ID: 747-428 over YUL, August 30th, 2018

Fri Aug 31, 2018 3:18 pm

Yesterday at 23:04 there was that roar over my home and it was a 747. FR24 told me it was a -428, company, departure and destination not displayed but it was clearly from YUL. I saw another one a few weeks ago, same discretion about everything, it went over the ocean.

Anyone has an idea about what it would be?

I do not know their 747 variant, But the situation you've described screams Royal Air Maroc

It's because it also serves for the King. Nowadays, seeing a 747-428 doesn't leave much to guess since it was an aircraft manufactured for Air France, hence the 28, but not delivered to AF a quarter century ago when the French airline was bleeding money.

Someone at YUL caught it earlier this month: https://youtu.be/7_u67XS9GJc

Flightradar reports AT208/209 to be operated by a 744 until Sept. 10th at least.

Will that be the last 747 flight in YUL?

Who knows? Unless the like of LH or KL send once in while a 747, it could be the last.

A few years ago royal air maroc used to fly 10x weekly to YUL in summer. Once daily with 747 and not sure of equipment used on the 3 times a week flight.

Do Corsair no longer use a 747 to YUL?

No, this summer, last one and I don't remember for the previous, they flew/fly with a HIFLY leased A340.

The additional RAM frequencies were on the 767.

Just heard and saw the 744 over my dwelling, again. Too dark to take a meaningful picture.
I was born just a few days before the 747 came out of factory. I'll be 50 in a few days. Bit of a nostalgic moment. When I was a kid, those things were novelty; when I was a teenager, they were everywhere, when I was a young adult, it seemed they would be around forever…
Well…
