Uncontained can also refer to parts coming straight out the back of the engine, so lack of fuselage damage doesn't really tell you if it was contained or not.
The definition of a contained engine failure is when parts released from an engine either remain in the engine or exit from the tailpipe etc. An uncontained engine failure is defined as when high energy parts are released through the side of the engine. Both can result in aircraft damage. So parts exiting from the rear of the engine can still be a contained failure, For example a if HP turbine blade failed it is going to exit the back of the engine, where else can it go? But it’s still a contained failure.
