Every time I check J fares on AA's BCN-ORD-BCN they are sky high compared to one-stops through FRA, FRT or CDG. I fly it 4 to 5 times a year on all seasons

Never below 6K eur R/T when AF, LH and LX are between 3.5 and 4.5K.

They must be doing pretty well

Re: Likely new LEVEL destinations

With the 4th plane arriving this July 2019 to BCN, and the 3rd to ORY for the third quarter, some news regarding the LEVEL long haul network are expected.

Interestingly, the LEVEL flights for BCN long haul base are already bookable through Iberia.com, only for EZE, SCL, SFO and BOS. JFK seems to be picked up as a summer-seasonal route. I believe they might want it to operate together with American during the traditional summer season which goes April to October. However, due to the fact LEVEL only got the 4th frame for Barcelona arriving in July, this year the "new route" may only operate for that short bit of 3 months and a half. The rest of the routes would go (considering what IB.com is selling):

-EZE x7/w (-2 from W18)
-SCL x4/w same as S18
-BOS x3/w same as W18
-SFO x2/w same as W18

Tokyo remains as the greatest unserved market from the city, but LEVEL yet not ready.

Taking into account what they are selling at the moment, the 4th frame wouldn't be too used, so there are about 4 days and half with at least one whole A332 unused. This would mean at least one more destination. What are your thoughts for new routes? South America is the most realistic scenario:

-LIM?
-MEX to tackle a bit Aeromexico and Skyteam?

On the other hand, despite Norwegian going through ups and downs, they just announced EWR going daily from June, the 5th weekly flight to LAX and they are not selling anything for OAK or FLL any later than October which makes me suspect they are planning a move to SFO and MIA, probably increasing too. They plan to reallocate crews from the closed bases in Spain in their long haul network, for which the BCN base is the only possibility? DY's CFO said in an interview recently "We remain committed to Spain despite the closure of PMI, LPA and TFS/TFN. We are even considering expanding our long haul routes from there".

Possibly, but they’re also significantly cutting the size of the J cabin down to 20 seats on the B788 from 28 with the Premium economy addition, with the reduced supply, they seem to be getting less competitive on price while they figure out what the new baseline is...
1.4mm and counting...

Would be great to see Level on DTW-BCN maybe 2 weekly summer seasonal.
the truth does matter, guys. too bad it's often quite subjective. the truth is beyond the mere facts and figures. it's beyond good and bad, right and wrong...

The next destination they are focused is Japan but they might need the cooperation of JAL to sell tickets in Japan. It is interesting to note that Level CEO was already working in Japan with Jetstar so this will be a logical move

As much as we would love to see Barcelona linking with Tokio this winter season 2019, I don't think that is doable in the current timings. They could only add more frequencies to the existing destinations (EZE, SCL, BOS and SFO), or they need to announce something else.

With the JV, it might be better for IAG to route passenger to Japan via HEL or possibly have it served by JAL for higher yield from Japanese POS.
